lol. Does anyone else have a problem with over familiar familars? I was writing down in my records a future date for a spell and who I was to summon when it turned up. lol. I get this a lot now. Only with those that i have bound, but they are very ready.
I once tried to stop them but it made my magic unusable. I dont have a problem with them, they just appear ready, especially new spirits Iv bound, and Im like... erm.... I haven't called you yet. lol. so i tell them to wait.

anyone else have this?

The word is ill used at times. My cat is my familiar and while some would say there is a spirit in the cat, it is not how I look at it. The cat is a spirit of it's own, not the other way round.

Maybe you should listen because their properly charged and don't need the extra astrological power.In fact they may bemore powerful then you want if you wait. Then again you could just be fixating. Yeah it came because I was thinking about it as the Moon went into its sign. I was thinking the same thing Crowley666, it might have been that was a better time to do it, instead of waiting until it was by the specific star. Its only the newly bound ones that tend to turn up like that, the older spirits Ive bound wait until they'r called now. You have to let them know what you want it to be like otherwise they follow you around when they can. The reason I didn't ask it to do what I wanted was that I thought it was the wrong planetary hour and didn't want the wrong influence. I now see that it was the right planetary hour. Doh! Oh well. Iv got two days to call it back. lol.

Sarah D, that is not the type of Familiar that I meant, but yes I see why you thought it was. I forget this is a multiple paradigm forum. Witches tend to see familiars in that way where as Ceremonial Magicians its just a term for a spirit you have assigned to you after you have called its superior and asked for one. I will be more specific next time. sorry for the misunderstanding.

im not sure what a familiar is i guess im a new bee but it reminds me of my essay on were the romans good for killing jesus since so much good was accomplished but it isnt good because it caused seperation from sin and sinful alike do many degrees check out my new essay mabby ill post this one but its a basic one not the usual giberish

Over familiarity is dangerous and puts one in a position where one lacks solid control over the situation. A practitioner of the arts should always be the one in control and while I'm sure you could easily dismiss or banish them that is not really control only a fail safe. I view spirits in my orbit as subordinate soldiers. They are valuable. I might even like them and converse with them but, I have no compunctions about sacrificing them to achieve my goal and they know their place. They come when I call and they certainly suggest courses of action but , they do so subtly. In other words the tool does not tell the carpenter how to cut and that is as it should be.

So you think I should be more specific in the original binding then? Yes, you are probably right. I think they panic they will let me down because of how powerful my bindings are, they dont want to get in trouble again. I only bind demons that have disobeyed me in the past you see, and thus have already had a good telling off.

My next binding isn't for a few weeks yet because of how i do it, but I will specify to the angel exactly how i want it to be, so the demon isn't over zealous to please.

Just a curious question, but when you where making your note about doing the spell, did you by chance use the spirits full name or sigil? That might make a difference as well. Try shorting it down to either an Initial or nickname...

one way to piss off a spirit is to destry there link to you; this does not mean destroying your link to them though in other words you have controle over them yet they not you. This is by every definition evil. you better be ready for controling a unwilling entity though.
