I don't know if I posted this thing I wrote or not?
Here it is anyways. Mostly because I'm that into myself.

Some say that superstition is dead, or should be. In the modern age we have very little room for superstition and mysticism. With the advance of science we find answers to almost every question we have, save the more philosophical ones. Gone are the spirits and the demons that cause maladies and sickness, they are now replaced with the germ and virus. I wonder if we really advanced at all, instead we just renaming things, but thats another discussion.

So, are these things really gone? Have the demons and ghosts left us in peace and in good health? Is it still possible that we attribute supernatural qualities to our illnesses but more importantly to the cures to these illnesses. In this advanced and enlightened age, if one looks closely enough they might find we still have the same old beliefs towards our human condition.

Take this fun little test. Can you spot the difference between the two lists?

Actos
Amaryl
Buspar
Cozaar
Haldol
Lunesta
Lantus
Septra
Zocor
------------------------------------------
Vassago
Marbas
Buer
Zepar
Morax
Foras
Phenex
Focalor

The first is prescription drugs, the second is a list of medieval demons. They sound quite a bit alike don't they? Not only are the names suggestive of ancient beliefs but so are the way these drugs are marketed and symbolized.

As you may know, the demons of old were said to cause certain problems are rewards depending on the persons involvement with the demon. Usually when one receives something from a demon, a price must also be paid. Often times these supernatural effects were miraculous but they required steep payment in exchange for these services. Demons may only be consulted under certain celestial signs, certain times of day, and only when the person consulting them is truly ready for it.

Now lets look at modern prescription drugs. These drugs also can provide problems and rewards for their use and "worship". When you employ the services of a drug, you will gain its benefits, its healing properties, its strength, its pain relief, whatever effect it proclaims it causes but you will have to pay great sums of money or worse. Sometimes like in the demon world, you will get burned. These are the side effects of the drug. As with demons, they may give you what you want but take a heavy toll from another area of your life, or health. Drugs are to be taken at certain times of the day, or month, and only when they user is truly deemed ready to take them.

A closer look at the symbols of the demons, spirits and drugs we will find even more similarities. Lets take a look at a demon and compare it to a drug from our lists. First the list of spirits.

Marbas- It is said that Marbas cures disease and teaches the mechanical arts governing 36 legion of spirit. A shadowy cat like form [X] slowly rises behind me gazing out. It appears still once formed and does not waver for the entire session.

Lunesta- Lunesta can give the restless mind the sleep it needs. Governing the Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid (GABA). Often takes the form of a green butterfly, giving of an emerald glow. Has the prefix lune, which is a bastardization of Luna, goddess of the moon or the moon itself. Lord of sleep and night.

We can see now that these two very different worlds have much more in common that at first we thought. Even in this day and age, subconsciously we still attribute such mystical qualities and properties to such subjects. And why not? If something works so well, or so badly, why bother asking why? Is it a germ or a ghost? Could we not say that headaches are an angry ancestor and that aspirin is a holy powder that can weaken the ghosts anger? The labels and names can be changed, mystical or mundane, it matters not as long as we can make event B come after we preform A.

So the next time someone claims we are near god like in our perfect and wonderful science, our advanced philosophies, and preaching about how grown up we are compared to such primitive beliefs we once held, remind them we still employ demons to cure our ailments.

* First, train in the preliminaries.
* Treat everything you perceive as a dream.
* Find the consciousness you had before you were born.
* Let even the remedy itself drop away naturally.
* Stay in the primeval consciousness, the basis of everything.
* Between meditations, treat everything as an illusion.
* As you breathe in, take in and accept all the sadness, pain, and negativity of the whole world, including yourself, and absorb it into your heart. As you breathe out, pour out all your joy and bliss; bless the whole of existence.
* Understand your attachments, your aversions, and your indifference, and love them all.
* Apply these proverbs in everything you do.
* When practicing unconditional acceptance, start with yourself.
* When everything goes wrong, treat disaster as a way to wake up.
* Take all the blame yourself.
* Be grateful to everyone.
* Don't worry- there's nothing real about your confusion.
* When something unexpected happens, in that very moment, treat it as a meditation.
* Work with the Five Forces. The Five Forces are: 1.Be intense, be committed. 2. Familiarization - get used to doing and being what you want to do and to be. 3. Cultivate the white seeds, not the black ones. 4. Turn totally away from all your ego trips. 5.Dedicate all the merits of what you do for the benefit of others.
* Practice these Five Forces and you are ready for death at any moment.
* All teachings have the same goal.
* Follow the inner witness rather than the outer ones.
* Always have the support of a joyful mind.
* Practicing even when distracted is good training.
* Always observe these three points: 1. Regularity of practice. 2. Not wasting time on the inessential. 3. Not rationalizing our mistakes.
* Change your attitude, but stay natural.
* Do not discuss defects.
* Don't worry about other people.
* Work on your greatest imperfection first.
* Abandon all hope of results.
* Give up poisonous food.
* Don't be consistent.
* Don't indulge in malicious gossip.
* Don't wait in ambush.
* Don't strike at the heart.
* Don't put the yak's load on the cow.
* Remember - this is not a competition.
* Don't be sneaky.
* Don't abuse your divine power for selfish reasons.
* Don't expect to profit from other people's misfortune.
* In all your activities, have a single purpose.
* Solve all problems by accepting the bad energy and sending out the good.
* Renew your commitment when you get up and before you go to sleep.
* Accept good and bad fortune with an equal mind.
* Keep your vows even at the risk of your life.
* Recognize your neurotic tendencies, overcome them, then transcend them.
* Find a teacher, tame the roving mind, choose a lifestyle that allows you to practice.
* Love your teacher, enjoy your practice, keep your vows.
* Focus your body, mind, and spirit on the path.
* Exclude nothing from your acceptance practice: train with a whole heart.
* Always meditate on whatever you resent.
* Don't depend on how the rest of the world is.
* In this life, concentrate on achieving what is most meaningful.
* Don't let your emotions distract you, but bring them to your practice.
* Don't let your practice become irregular.

Are there any of you who follow what would be generally considered the lhp and have become advanced both spiritually and powerfully (spiritual powers like clairvoyance, elemental control, etc) without making pacts or anything like that with any entities? I'm on this other site that has a lot of people saying that a person who follows the "darker" path of magick can only go so far without doing things like that. I refuse to believe that though. If you are or know of someone who fits this I'd like to know. :)

Hello, I've been ghost hunting for several years now and was curious as to the many haunted places that exist around the country and the world as local legends. In my area there are several that never receive any mention in the books circulated by Barns&Noble, Walden, and amazon. And as such they go relatively un-noticed. Additionally, simply for fun I'm adding a poll on the belief in spirits.
