    Default Die Sams

A number of years ago while I was visiting my family in Germany, I was trying to learn what all the meanings of the names of the days of the week were. Well I figured out all of them but one, Samstag (saturday) So I asked a couple of friends what it meant. They told me that samstag is named after the Sams, a monster that appeared on saturdays to grant wishes for you. The Sams' face was covered in blue bumps or nodules, and whenever you made a wish, one would disappear. When they were all gone, the Sams would kill you (or perhapse you would just die). It is an interesting faery tale and I would be interested in what other little known fables you guys might know.

The element Cobalt is named after little goblins called Kobolds that create knocking sounds in mines.
