How do I get a (Spiritual) Guide?

In the past, on rare occasions, I've had spiritual guidance by various entities, and I've had a few lessons including a few I can still remember. I was wondering though, if there is a way to get a more prolonged guidance from an entity - perhaps not permanent by any means, but something more persistent than a one shot deal.

Any advice?

This is true, you are born with it, you might wrecognise it as "your guilty consciouse"

Okay, my experience is this:
Spirit Guides are entities we create with every thought, even miniscule, every emotion, every short story we write, each time we light up a cigarrette, every painting or drawing we create, each poem, each friend or lover, our family experience, the trees we experience with the eye, anything we behold with the eye or any of the senses, all past lives, future lives, possible lives, and just about anything.

We just don't immediately personalize/recognize the guide that is there. Taking this view allows you to view everything as something within your personal grimoire, the actual grand grimoire.

Some deity-like figures are highly social beings which react sympathetically to a wide range of requests and are at the level of advancement that they are able to get passed certain issues of the veil and incompatabilities of realms.

Therefor i suggest you find some benevolent deity or lord figures, and they can be as guides to you.

Angels often straddle the borderline between reality and delusion. I would suggest entities like Hermes or Orobas. Also, what works the best is to ask your shadow. most of us have them and they can be very wise. I once had a friend whose guide was his mother, and her symbol was the wicked witch of the west. I mentally saw her at the foot of his bed once and he explained it to me. Kinda smacks of Norman Bates...

I'm a little late, but it's better than never. I've just started trying to come in contact with my spirit guide, no luck so far but I came across a prayer in the esoteric archives which seems nice and strong to me.

You can modify it to your liking/religion the main point is have emotion and really feel that you want to come in contact, as for all magic you'll need a cause whether it be for help, learning, or just to say hi.

O Lord of heaven and earth, Creator and Maker of all things visible and invisible; I, though unworthy, by thy assistance call upon thee, that thou wilt give unto me thy holy Spirit, to direct me in thy truth unto all good. Amen.

I know God might have something to say against booze and drugs, but they might just lower your preconceived notions of reality enough to contact a guiding spirit.

The prayer is a pretty good example. I say, just ask and you will find help even if it is within you. I'd go for the angel as well. They're good people, and will help you if you ask. Yeah and religion isn't a point at all with them. Or your could always find your animal guide. Mine is a Falcon, though I have to say, now he's more of a close friend than a guide, but that's beside the point. If you ask honestly and humbly enough, someone will help you. Their help may come in different ways, but you'll know.

Plenty of advice.

One does not seek such guidance. When you are ready it comes to you. My experience has taught me that, though perhaps yours might not... If you seek, you shall find. Again, Raja Yoga might lead you in the correct direction. Spiritual Guides are at their best when they come to you anyways, at their worst they are directed by your own intentions.

When the deeper parts of me were ready, I met many guides. different techniques led to different types of guides in my personal experience. personally i never looked in a grimoire for guides. they work for other uses definitely, but I prefer for an entity specifically to be used as a guide to create it clairvoyantly.

But how to make them last longer? hmmmm. The way I did it was to establish a relationship with the entity. I literally had visoins just hanging out with the entity who became my primary guide, and that was obviously after I figured out how to conjure him easily. I would see us just chilling on a roof top, or flying around. sounds stupid and not very profound, but it led to a much deeper connection and was very helpful during more powerful rituals.

Motivation is the best tool to get the spiritual guide from the recommended thing. so always be self motivated person. In this way you will be one of the spiritual person in this regard.

I have had periods where one guide would leave and another would come. And others that stayed with me for longer periods.
