Has anyone tried any fasting for magic? I am trying to go on a fruit diet since I have never fasted before. All I'll be having is 1 fruit every 4-5 hrs. After a few days I will go for a full fasting in which I will have only water. Of course, I'll do this only for a day.
Has anyone heard of rozas? It means a fast kept in the muslim religion. When muslims keep roza they do it for a whole day, & they don't even drink water. They are not even allowed to swallow their own spit. I heard about a muslim guy who would spit everytime he could feel his saliva coming in his mouth from his throat.
Since magick is mostly about controlling one's own mind, control over the body would certainly help.

I have fasted for some rituals and have only eaten fruit and drank only water and lie you mentioned after some time I drank only water

This process will strengthen the connections depending on the ritual if you have a bit of water before hand it will help in raising the energy.

This is just my experience in the ritual work that I do

I should have mentioned, I am not doing it for a ritual. I am doing it for becoming a better 'magician'. Exposing the body to an extreme condition once in a while is good for magick (just my thoughts). While it may not be necessary, it may help me in future in case I want to actually go for fasting. Also, I will be more 'in control' of myself(at least my physical self).
Odin, is there any specfic diet you follow? At what intervals did u eat/drink water?

I have for different rituals but, not specifically for magic itself. I do find that when fasting clarity of visualsations are much more intense!

Fasting occasionaly is good for the body and the mind. It also increases your capacity to do psychic attacks.

Sugar (even fruit) and meat are good things to abstain from when connecting with nature. this all depends on the thing you are trying to accomplish.
in the Necronomicon, a celibate fast is necessary (and the whole point of the book) to open the gateways to the planets.
also, in druidic culture/religion, eating ONLY the sabbat plants for each season and abstaining from most meat save the occasional cornish game hen, is the best way to practice this, nothing I have done, but plan to do some year.

Is it safe to eat absolutely nothing for just a day? or would that be too extreme. I am planning to go on a fast again but this time I'll be having only water

Its perfectly fine, I've done up to 72 hour fasts (though you will need to drink plenty of water and not over exhaust yourself during these sort of things)

Gandhi fasted for 21 days in his 70's. On pure water. You must always drink lots of water. I believe Gandhi said that all spiritual fasts should be at least 21 days. I have not fasted more than 4 days. It can be quite difficult if you don't prepare before hand. As you are weak and sleepy during the fast. You should not exercise a lot if it's a long fast, you must conserve your body's fat. I didn't really want to post this before because i didn't want to suggest to someone not to eat for a long period of time. But for the most part it is perfectly safe. And in many cultures people fast for spiritual reasons. Ton's actually, from Christianity to native americans to Islam and it goes on. If you try, research a bit first, and be safe.

EDIT: fasting competition anyone? lol, jk. If didn't have obligations i would be trying a long one myself, but life can make it difficult. I have read a lot on it, and always been interested in fasting. It takes a lot of commitment though.
