I have started reading "Modern magick" and I still don't understand how to vibrate. How do you exactly do this?

redhand knows this. He will be able to tell you.

This is a hard one to just explain in words,... have you ever heard someone meditate while chanting OM? OOOHHHmmmmmmm. Well that's the basic idea here you will feel this through out your body while doing it. Try and rattle the windows if you can!LOL ;) On the link below there are recordings of Isreal Regardie chanting the names in the LBRP that I think will be a great help in understanding this even better.

Kind of a mixture between the sound that tibetian monks make when they are chanting, Really good Opera, and Humming... Practice in the shower. I do. Also... If you can get away with it.... Go to a campus or church building that has been made with very very good limestone and or marble. High quality. when there... try and vibrate the word IAO...but have it come out like this EEEEeeeeeeeee AAAHHHHHhhhh OOOOOooooohhhhh
then try YHVH YYYyuuUUuUDdddd HEEEeeeehhhh VAAAaaaaavvv HEeeeh

you will know whats up then.

All Matter is comprised of vibration. Resonences Harmonies.

if you listen to the Isreal Regardie vibrating the names and try to mimic him is is a pretty quick way to pick it

so follow the direction of Redhand

Here is something fun to do. stand near a machine, be it a washer, a dryer, a microwave, a refridgerator etc. and try to make the same pitch with your voice. You will feel the sound come into you.

I have done that one! It works perfectly. when the right resonance is hit there is this strange little shift in perception that occurs. a Harmony. Nice thinking :)

Thanks for the link. I always kind of wondered if I was doing it right, before this I hadn't heard anyone vibrating anything.

hmm..people always say like Tibetan monks. Well, I think there is a clear difference between the Western Magical idea of Vibrating Holy Names and the chanting of at least mantras by Tibetan monks. Every time I've heard a mantra chanted by a Tibetan, Chinese, Mongolian, Nepalese Tantric Buddhist its a quick repitition over and over. When you get going at a certain speed and vibration (in the throat) it is definitely euphoric and wonderful, and conducive to a meditative state.

Ooomm (slightly extended) mani padme (rush these together quickly) huuuummm (slightly extended)

ooomm (slightly extended) tare tu tare ture (rushed together quickly) sohaaa (slightly extended)

I don't know, there may be some difference between sects not to mention countries. I have no clue how Japanese Tantrics chant mantras.

But I'm getting kind of off topic.

Here's something else interesting. Anyone heard of singing rocks? They are found in Iran and India and they are boulders with man made dents or rings in them which produce a clear, echoing musical sound when the boulder is struck, rather like church bells. Apparently no one knows how they work.
