I feel it's time that I started contributing seriously.
A number of years ago when I first became aware of the seriousness and substance of magick, it was hardening for me to find that there is very little serious material out there on psychic development. At least from the magician's standpoint. It seemed as if there were born mediums and psychics, and there were the John Dee's that always needed to employ these people in ritual operations. For me personally, I find clairvoyance and astral travel fundamental parts of magick. Such notable stars as Aleister Crowley and M. Mathers agreed. In the Golden Dawn system, there is a slow systematic opening of the subtle senses and bodies, but what is there out there for those not in this tradition...
Here I want to start a conversation about some of the ritual methods that I have discovered to bring out these possibilities. As most of these are my own, they don't betray any secret knowledge passed down from initiation.
The first and most powerful is initiation. If you have access to a Golden Dawn temple (recommend the UK official) then do it. There is no replacement for powerful ceremonial initiations. This will open you up to the higher state of consciousness for long enough to get real world feel of everything psychic.
Failing this, try Reiki. I did, expecting to find some gay very feminine approach, and I discovered a very potent way to enhance and extend the energy systems in the body that allow for psychic perception. The Reiki attunements are fantastic if done correctly. This was the beginning of my psychic opening, and it shaved years of dull mediation off the work.
Trance states - learning to get into trance is FUNDAMENTAL to psychic perception. Do this daily. This is the area of the brain that perceives those psychic energies and sends them to the conscious part... I can elaborate on this in another article.
In the Qabalah, the sphere associated with psychic perception is Yesode. Do a ritual that invokes the energies of Yesode, by the God names, and then invoke the archangels. This is extreme ritual power and will open you up FAST. I won't post these divine names on the forum, so if you can't find them in your books, private message me.
You can also do pathworking by meditating on the path of Yesode (taken from a Garden of Pomogranites by Israel Regardie) - you do this by meditating on the name associated with the path that means
"self is the foundation of everything".
Realisation - the more you realise your connection with everything, your underlying godness, the more you open up. This is a basic equation of magick.
Invoke often. Realise how maleable you are. You are not a solid personality, you are the liguid-type case of consciousness.

This is an awesome program, and it allows you to entrain your brain to the right states of consciousness for psychic sense - which eventually becomes the normal waking consciousness.
This is such a big topic, perhaps I can add to it later. For the meantime, I hope this can aid the beginner and give usual insight to anyone seeking it.
