Does anyone listen to it?

I am not talking about nu-metal like Linkin Park, Korn, Slipknot, or Mudvayne.
I am not talking about dark symphonic metal like NightWish or Within Temptation.
And I definitely do not mean Marilyn Manson or NIN or Cradle of Filth.

I mean bands like Rosetta Stone, Bauhaus, the Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, (some of) the Cure, etc.

I just want to know because it would be something to talk about off topic.

I love Switchblade Symphony's Serpentine Gallery, and a few songs by London After Midnight and The Wake. If you count later Tiamat, I like them quite a bit. Aside from that, Goth isn't my thing. I'm a black metaller myself, but I'll take that to another thread.

I see. I enjoy Serpentine Gallery and Psycho Magnet, which is by London After Midnight. Their song Sacrifice is really beautiful. The Wake is great, too. I haven't listened to Tiamat other than the song on the Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines soundtrack. I'll have to check them out some more.

I'm a huge Sisters of Mercy fan, many a morning with a stiff neck after the DJ spun "Temple of Love" one to many times...

Of course Nick Cave and the bad seeds need honorable mention, Stabbing Westward is always a winner.

I know its not generally thought of in these terms...but when they are live, and especially their later releases, Depech Mode can come off very Goth...and always awesome. Probably my favorite old school band of all time.

Regarding Tiamat, anything from the Skeleton Skeletron album through Prey are heavily goth-rock influenced. But I don't recommend the Judas Christ album.

Oh, I am excited. This topic got more attention than I thought it would.

I tried getting into Faith and the Muse after I fell in love with "Scars Flown Proud", but I really did not like any of the other material I found on YouTube. I do like Dark Cabaret. I have a compilation of Dark Cabaret published by Projekt.

I am really only familiar with Nick Cave's "Red Right Hand", but I want to listen to more. I keep forgetting. Depeche Mode is quite awesome. There are many times when synthpop does sound very goth. Look at Gary Numan, too.

Metal really isn't my thing anymore, although I did hear the goth influences in Tiamat. They are labeled as goth metal, which is an oxymoronic genre. That is not a bad thing; I am just saying.

Agreed. And no, I am not gay. I am not insecure about my sexuality, either; I just had to post something over ten characters.

I grew up with Depeche Mode and the Cure. Good stuff. I'm not sure the Smiths would count, but they were the big 80s bands that I liked. Still do even, though I'm more into metal and IDM nowadays.

Um I'm not sure what gothic albums count as but joy division is probably my favorite band, and alot of people they originated or influenced goth music. I havn't really listened to sisters of mercy but I really want too, I need to pick up one of their albums. My bloody valentine are also really good.
