Hi all.

Just wondering if anyone has advice for some simple techniques to work on when you don't have a place of your own to do it in?

I currently share a dorm room in a national park with two other people and as I would like to work on the cabalistic cross, MP and LBRP, I find it impossible in this situation.

Anyone have any ideas for paradigms or techniques to practice when privacy is at a nil? I've been thinking of holding off on GD work and learning some runes. Seems like runes wouldn't be something you'd need a whole lot of privacy for?

Any ideas?

Umm, by "National Park"...do you mean large, outdoor, beautiful natural environment?...if so...then why not just do it outside. Practicing Magick in such a setting would be...awesome.

I agree with S33k3R about working outdoors, there is nothing quite like it. If this option is open to you that is? Or if travel is ok, a special site could be rooted out and consecrated, for regular work - if there are any isolated areas left in your part of the world! Not many here in good ol UK - but enough if one looks hard. Still, this only really warrants the effort for the more `full blown`workings, and not for those on-the-fly daily rites etc. But of course, if you DO live "in a national park", (or have quick access to a place) then it'd just be a case of nipping over the field to your own little workspace!
Although some may say there has been an over-emphasis on the indoor temple within a lot of practices, - much better to get out into the "wilds of nature" where the energies/forces of magic tend to flow more freely etc - sometimes neither of them is a straight option. Here, Mrs. Peel`s point on it being "In your head honey, in your head" could well be spot on for you. No reason why many workings cant be done completely on the inner-level, in fact, sometimes it can work better. Taken further - and I cant remember where I read these - there are techniques for building up and creating a complete working temple within the mind, complete with all the tools and stuff and becoming so real as to even remain "as left" once you close off - developing that used/lived-in quality of the more `solid` areas - and enabling it to become just as effective as anything `real`. Think it was written with imprisoned magicians in mind, but the principle is there!
All of this takes some time though, and I feel you're looking for more immediate solutions.
Though a friend of mine, in similar circumstances, used to lock herself in the bathroom, turn the water taps on full - "cool sound, bit like `white noise` and cuts out the other s**t " (her words), and would get done what was needed in that way. Suppose there are lots of ways around this, depends on individual circumstance, ones character, and what workings one wishes to complete though.
Some other members will no doubt have way more valuable things to post for you, just thought I`d have a say so to speak. :D

Having been in the Marines for over 22 years I understand your plight!LOL It is what you make it though, I always got up earlier than everyone and did my basic Rituals, then mostly outside. It can be quite invigorating in a really natural environment, everyone else around you will have to understand!:D
So as S33k3R and Strider stated hey whats the real problem!LOL Also Mrs. Peel gives another good alternative do it in your head!:D

Holy tasty bbq chips that someone left in the lobby! Good responses!

Yeah, Mt.Rainier Ntl Park actually. I really love the idea of having an outside altar. I'm pissed I didn't think of that myself. Especially since I was outside the other day, looking up at the sun, thinking of how much more powerful astral/energy work could be outside. Geez. Well, I also thought of just visualizing it all in my head as well, while laying down in bed at night, but was reluctant to veer off the established paradigm too far. I do have strong feelings towards physical positions, but this will surely work for when I can't be in the woods.

Thanks for the input everyone!

I feel much better now. :D

haha.
i have been having these problems as well.
physically, it is impossible since i am in the closet with my practices. and mentally, i need to be completely alone. usually, the nighttime is very loud due to the number of family members living in my current home.
