Well then, I don't want to make too much of a fool of myself, but my interest for magically oriented studies has always been present. I am a big fan of DnD and other fantasy RPGs. My interest was further peaked when I met a woman by the name of Drakenos, who claimed to be a necromancer and I had the soul of some powerful necromancer by the name of Gryzalazar. She decided it would be good to acquaint me with my necromantic abilities. I was always skeptical, but fascinated nonetheless. So I did some looking around and thought that the occult was a very interesting way of life, and naturally I want to learn more. I don't have much knowledge of what is and is not, so bear with me if I make myself look like a fool...

About the name, Gryzalazar, I just thought it was a really neat name so I kept it. I also keep it as a memoir, since I lost the password to my old IMing account that I talked to Drakenos on.

It can be like Gryzalazar I to play DND and got into Castles and Crusade pretty heavy. Welcome to the forum Gryzalazar. I was into the occult before I got into DND, but it just seemed like a fun way to extend my occult stuff into a fun loving game.

Gryzalazar i used to go to a gameroom where I used to live, but hoping to find one when I get to Austin Texas. DND is a lot of fun.

Make no mistake, i was not making a jibe against DND, many years ago when i was younger i found myself playing computer based versions of the game out of a general interest in the occult myself, i merely stated the fact of keeping fact and fantasy separate as a general piece of advice :)

Gryzalazar, have you read any Leilah Wendell? She is a Necromantic priestess in New Orleans who has written several books on the subject. Necromancy is not to my particular taste but if it is yours you may want to check out her books which I found pretty good despite being rather creeped out by them. I found that by googling her name just now. I am so helpful! Apparently there is a forum there too. Though be warned that Necromancy as she sees it is very different from the D&D version.

Lol tell me about it. I had the game. I'm into WOW at the moment though. It is true to keep it safe, but there are ways to do that. I used to use the DND game and Castles one to check my scrying technique. I would try to set up my system then see how well it worked later in the game.

Not to detract to much from the original poster (hi hi hi) but i left games and all other distractions behind when i decided to take my studies seriously, it was very hard, but worthwhile.

You know, it is easy to miss some very important facts when one chooses to disregard "fiction".
I did the same, then began to recognize that every make believe is a metaphor for a deeper truth, if you know how to read it. Now I can use a D&D game in a way similar to a Tarot reading, to uncover secrets my subconscious might not otherwise tell.
It is a valuable ability if you choose to re-examine it. Magick is made possible by the ability to suspend disbelief, to build worlds of the imagination, to visualize, to use ones sense of play to accomplish "serious" ends. If a person doesn't get distracted by the details of the fantasy it is a powerful tool for development of true magickal powers. An exercise. Try not to look down on what you think you have outgrown. It can limit you terribly.
