The fictional stories are nothing like the real thing. I daresay the "real" thing (which depends on what you're doing - scrying, geomancy, tarot, wicca, paganism, satanism, ceremonal magick, qabalah, etc.) is much harder.

How about before you decide to get into something as amazing and wonderful as spiritual abilities, and making a change, you start with something simple - spelling, punctuation, and other such things. Try to NOT look like you read all the harry potter books and wanna make pretend you're doing some spells while shouting some latin or hebrew phrases and waving a wand trying to look cool.

I think part of it is how you present yourself - especially as an occultist. They will either think you're serious - or you're a hardcore D&D roleplayer whose had to much weed/coffee in his moms basement with other smelly man last night.

Hey, his presentation may be lacking, but if he's eager to learn it's the main thing.

Just saying i think its some good advice... I like to think of myself as critically witty but accepting. ;)

Welcome Zegian, I liked your introduction it hit me as being honest. I would say you have started off on the right foot here... If you cant spell then you cant spell, a little punctuation here and there would be good it just makes posts much easier for people to read that is all... And you have a much better chance of getting a response to any questions you have ;)

There is many interesting topics and snippets of information here, Just dont dive into doing anything hastily...

May I suggest that the very first things you should learn to do is Shielding and Grounding... Even if you never do anything else learning to do these has its benefits in everyday life regardless... :)
