What to do I do if mother and sister are black witches?

I am not an occultist. Recently I have discovered that my mother and my sister are both black witches. I have only years ago paperback book readings in the occult. I am not a dabbler. What advice can any of you give me as to how to conduct myself with my mother and sister? I know something of the black, once again from years ago paperback book readings. That would depend. If your mother and sister have a similar education in the occult to yourself, i.e. paperback fluff, then I wouldn't worry too much. That is not to say all paperback occult tomes are worthless but, many recent works tend to shy away from the negative aspects of magic in general creating an unbalanced viewpoint that is not conducive to occult study and research of any serious nature.

Now if this is not the case and your mother and sister are bona fide black witches, and by that I mean women with magical power who utilize it almost exclusively for baneful ends, then I'd suggest treading carefully and extending your education beyond the paper back books. The truth of the matter is if they want to hurt you there's not much you can do about it. You might be able to ask a shaman or magus to fashion a protective charm for you. If you fancy a drive the Hopi are very wise in these things. A charm or ward will help protect you but, if you live in the same house you'll never be completely safe.

My great grandmother used to say that if a witch troubled you then you had to find a black walnut tree and paint a picture on the bark in red of the witch, it can be an effigy accuracy does not matter as long as you know who it is. Once that is done you must take an iron nail and drive it into the heart of the painting with seven strikes. Before sun set the witch will come asking to borrow something from you. If you refuse her three times then she has no more power over you so long as you never take the nail out. Keep in mind this is supposed to be intensely painful for the witch so it may not be something you are willing to try. I'm also not sure how well walnut trees grow in Arizona.

Treat them with respect, as you would anything that is dangerous to you. Lolz.. Being as they are family, though, i really doubt that you are in any serious danger. Whatever happens to you will affect them, as they will probably suffer consequence from it due to the ripple effect. Besides, its better to have them on your side than as opposition... Just my two cents...

I am not sure how you define 'black' witches.
If they are followers of any traditional Stregherian system then I don't see the problem here?
There is no black or white system or 'witches'. Black Magick is simply magick pertaining to the Black Arts and is not in and of itself evil or baneful.

What makes anyone, witch/sorcerer or not, detrimental is not the magick they practice but rather their 'intent'.

That would depend on whether they know or not. But I am having a little trouble grasping why this matters...

If you know anything about witchcraft, why dont you bind them from doing no harm to you or anyone else? As for how you should act, dont act any differently around them unless it is effecting your family. If so speak to them about it and tell the your concerns, any magic that harms others is destructive to the magician. Also may be good to protect yourself from there magic, they may not be directing anything at you but if there hurting others with it the repurcussions may effect you. If you need to know how to bind and cast a protection spell there should be plenty of books and webpages to help you.

I would ask first your source for you knowledge of what the black arts is, or what makes you think they are such.

one could cast a spell, and what i may do would be to disconnect spiritual ties to them(such as the link in the astral..banishings an such), and to place astral mirror around them, this mirror can be broken but hopefully not before an unfortunate reflection.

protection is good too but is not a one time thing. as a non practitioner I would say get on there good side.

Not all paths tread within the light. It may well be your mother's and sister's dark calling to embrace the chaos and destruction of the cosmos. This does not necessarily mean they are evil - the cosmos needs to keep spinning and will assign all of its children accordingly to maintain balance.

If they do mean you harm, by all means find a mode to protect yourself. Keep in mind that some forces are stronger than others - a newbie casting protection spells against experienced witches will be like defending yourself from artillery with tissue paper.

Some of the advice above is valid, though I do have to ask, why does this really matter to you?
Should you be wishing to get involved, then I could see the relevance, but being 'Black' or 'Dark' has been stigmatic for many ages now. Though, personally, there is no 'light' or 'dark' it is all down to how the tool is used, I could go into this but I won't as I cba.

Then it does come down to, how have they learned? What did they read? how do they practice/how often and when? If they are newbies at this, I, personally would not worry.

Then again, I would not worry, if they are your family and they do not see you as a threat, they will love you dearly (though, I do not know the relationship you have with them) and you will gain more from them being this way, as they will protect you to the best of thier abilities, whatever they maybe.
