I used to be a Theistic Satanist years back. It's very different than what the mundane would view satanism as. They don't see Satan as someone sinister, more godly but still very dark. They view christianity as brainwashing and enslaving them. You worship Satan as your god but you see him as a loving caring individual its hard to explain. They don't do animal sacrificing rituals like some other branches do. They still hold dark rituals though. And you have a demon guardian that helps you out. It's like a dark goodness, that's how I see Theistic satanism. Like I said this was years ago that I was a theistic satanist, YEARS AGO. If you want to learn more about it go to google and type in Joy of Satan.

To some extent it is too nebulous a topic. Nearly every person who claims to be a "Theistic Satanist" has their own personal take on the topic, often at odds with other "Theistic Satanist."

That is very true. My memory is still hazy of those days when I was a Theistic. So everything I posted might not be accurate.

Uhg, JoS is so perverse and ugly. I like this site better.
Theistic Satanism: Diane Vera on today's new kinds of Satanists (http://www.theisticsatanism.com/index.html)

Vera has been at it for a long time and is probably about as useful a source as you're likely to find.

By the way, this isn't really an endorsement. More a comment that of a number of bad options her work is the least bad.

I would consider myself to be a Theistic Satanist. Of course, I have my own understanding of matters which would differ from many other Satanists, even those identifying with the "Theistic Satanist" label. A good source of information on "theistic" Satanism can be found by Wikipedia searching the term or checking out a few videos on youtube about the subject.

Many Theistic Satanists either view Satan as an anthropomorphic entity (traditional devil worship) in opposition to the Christian (or other monotheistic) God, a dark force in nature that represents such things as strength, freedom, survival, power and overcoming obstacles or as a higher form of self that can be attained by identifying with the character of Satan.

No, don't go to the Joy of Satan. DO NOT GO TO THE JOY OF SATAN. Sorry, let me repeat.

DO NOT GO TO THE JOY OF SATAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. EVER!

They're not Satanists, they're E.T. worshipping neo-nazi's, and if you think I'm joking, I'm not. They believe Satan is an E.T. and that Satan's enemies are the Jews. They are like the Hitler Youth, in a sense, as most of their website is aimed at appealing to teens/young adults. Some of their "Clergy" (yes, they call them "Clergy" because they're strikingly similar to Christians in their structure) the use of Crystal Meth, and one member has even written a story describing sex acts with a 12 year old girl.

On theistic satanism - The beleif that Satan is not just a symbol, but a god, a force, a current, one of many, etc. It's rather loose, there is no one group that has invented Theistic Satanism (unlike LaVeyan) and the majority of theistic satanists today are either those who pratice individually, or work in small, private covens.

Well I guess we have established the fact that we should not go to the JOS. There are a few here but they have been absent lately.

Okay, I confess. I defected briefly to the Joy of Satan and I now return even more enriched and enlightened than ever before! ;)

I remember first googling JoS a few years back and just not finding it very productive. I've also noticed many who use their perspective of Satanism to engage in repulsive and deviant behavior.

My perspective is that although Satanism (Theistic, Modern, whatever) is an individual path, it is merely a means to the end. That end being Self-Realization and Self-Development. In Nietzschean terms, achieving the Ubermensch.

I'm not a Theistic Satanist but I do have that romantic side that Lucifer will return and another bloody war erupts and Lucifer regains the Sovereignty that was His...

I used to be really into theistic satanism, but I've kind of moved on from that phase.
However, I do believe that if a Lucifer does exist, he's not the evil figure portrayed in Christianity.
