Quabala made easy

I have been reading and memorizing basic (really basic) Hebrew. I get the gist of it. I have also memorized the tree of life, and some of its paths. However, the rest of the theory's and inklings are hair splitting and grossly difficult to understand. Short of getting a teacher, what book do you recommend for this subject? I would love something simple, down to earth, and with little to no mystery. I can deal with that when I know what the hell they're talking about.

Once again, I will plug the books of Israel Regardie. One of his main works on Qabala is "Garden Of Pomegranates" and is a fairly easy to read. The main issue with learning Qabala from a magickal point of view is the huge number of correspondances for each sephira and path. Well done with the Hebrew so far... It's all about the journey.

There are a lot of good ones out there. These lean towards the Hermetic Kabbalah, unless you want more Kosher material.

The Way: A Celtic Qabalah by John Littlewood The Way: A Celtic Qabalah is like a breath of fresh air. It looks at the Kabbalah in a completely different way. The layout is much more flexible and the purpose extremely personal.

Climbing the Tree of Life: A Manual of Practical Magickal Qabalah by David Rankine, Stephen Skinner I have not read this one yet but, it has been recommended by good friends of mine as being very good!

Entrance To The Magical Qabalah by Melita Denning This one goes beyond the basic Sephirotic attributes that a beginner should know, and shows how to pay attention to both the practical applications of this knowledge and the spiritual connections of the Creation process. This is a really good one.

PATHS OF WISDOM by John M. Greer It's by Greer nothing else need be said, Greer is able to simplify enough for the beginner to grasp difficult concepts, yet offers enough new information to keep the expert interested.

Kabbalah, Magic & the Great Work of Self Transformation: A Complete Course by Lyam Thomas Christopher This one is based on the Golden Dawn system which uses the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, that provides a complete study and training course into Western Magic and Mysticism. This one brings you almost to the portal and is between 4=7 and 5=6 teachings of the Golden Dawn.

Kabbalistic Cycles and the Mastery of Life by Joseph C. Lisiewsk not bad but, a little complicated. It is different also than most out there on the Kabbalah. I personally liked it but, not everyone will.

These are base on the English Kabbalah and are very interesting.

Qabalistic Concepts: Living the Tree by William G. Gray

The Ladder Of Lights by William G. Gray

The Miracle Tree: Demystifying the Qabalah by R. J. Stewart Stewart has produced a book on the Kabbalah with clear practical exercises which a beginner can use immediately and which a more experienced practitioner can readily adapt -- and both will achieve definite results. I am a fan of R J Stewart and his teacher William Gray so I do recommend these.

Esoteric Magic and the Cabala by Phillip Cooper This is based on Gray's teachings.

This thread was posted with perfect timing; I myself have just begun to read Dion Fortune's Mystical Qabalah. It is highly recommended by teachers of the path.

I have already read her manual on psychic self-defense and thought it was an excellent guide on the subject. Many feel her sources are outdated, biased, or just difficult to read, but so far I have found Fortune an excellent teacher--afterall, she has firsthand experience with a lot of the information covered in her writings. So I have confidence that Qabalah will be another treasure on the shelf.

However, I've had a bit of difficultly understanding the book as it is a new area of study--demands a lot of patience and research, plus application. I was searching the Net for a decent "101 book" to read simultaneously with MQ (learn the lingo, basic concepts, and whatnot) so many thanks redhand for the recommendations! I think this is exactly what I was hoping to find.

I'm going to look for those books as soon as I finish memorizing all of the dead pan basics. I doubt other books would say anything other than "memorize the paths, learn some hebrew"

It will provide a good base for me.

Some of the ones that I mentioned above actually help you to start Pathworking the Tree itself and applying it to everyday life and magic. So it will show you application as well.

The Mystical Qabalah and Psychic Self Defence are good old standards for learning.

"The Chicken Qabala" by DuQuette. This book makes the basics far more understandable. And another work of his, about the Thoth Tarot is like a basic qabala course in itself.

Picked up "The Mystical Qabalah" :Dion Fortune today at borders. There were two cute girlies looking at dream interpretation and I mentioned that dreams are from and take place on the astral. We got to talking and I got one of their phone numbers.

No love spell matches the sexyness of knoledge eh?

Anyways I downloaded a copy of TMQ so I could put in footnotes as I read my hard copy.
