Hello. I am more knowledgeable about Gnosticism than the average person, but Gnostic Satanism is something new to me. I'm wondering what the basic ideas of Gnostic Satanism are and how they relate to Gnosticism. Also, I first heard about Gnostic Satanism from black metal bands such as Dissection and Watain (who I understand are involved in the "Temple of the Black Light") and I was wondering if it has any prominence outside of the BM scene. Thanks.

It's pretty difficult to make generalization, but I would say that Gnostic Satanism is ideologically rooted in Ophite Gnosticism and traditional Western occultism, a la hermeticism and kabbalah. It often runs in a rather Luciferian direction.

You can make any music relate to something.

The basic principle is still that matter is evil, that the demi-urge is evil, just that it focuses on Satan being the good guy - just like he already has been seen by the gnostics in the past in ophitic gnosticism. They just make it more dark and satanic.

Ive been coming to similar conclusions independently for the last several years. If anyone has suggestions, I'd like to learn more about this.
