I find that lucid dreaming is very easy for me. When I realise I'm lucid dreaming, I bring myself back to my senses and what's "real," and then attempt to use the "rope" technique to get out of my body.

Every time I do this, I can feel my physical body shaking, to the point that the bed feelings like it's shaking, and I tumble through what looks like/feels like vortices.

What is this, and what can I do to fix it?

I don't believe that it is actually your physical body shaking; that would only happen if the kundalini energy was rising, and you'd be experiencing a lot more than just vibrations.

It is likely your energy body vibrating; it happens every time you have an OOBE (In my experience). This can often seem like your body is shaking, and when it gets really intense, it can feel like your body is twisting or changing shapes. It's all natural, nothing to be worried about. Simply a part of the procedure.

Continue with your practices, it seems you are doing well!

The energy body does shake, I often feel it like a jolt. If you have your arms and legs crossed, it makes it more difficult to send yourself out and it may cause problems.

However, it could also be that you are so used to astral projecting/lucid dreaming that you end up loosing ''center'' in the middle of it all.

A supreme centering requires you to meditate and find inner silence. Then focus on each of your senses individually. After this, it requires to find out where you are in time and space. The next thing requires you to find out where everything around you is located. You should practice this for a while before you start astral projecting/lucid dreaming. The spiraling feeling and vortices are caused by this and until you can really get a hold of yourself, it is going to get worse.

Michelle Belanger's ''Dream Walking'' book is excellent for learning these sorts of things.

I have had some similar experiences a few years back but the process seems to have smoothed over for me since then. These were also in dream for me, and I believe that my physical body was not really tightening up as much as I believed while it was actually occurring. I also usually woke up very quickly when this happened so I was glad when it stopped being so jarring.

The shaking is called "the vibrations".

It is the onset of sleep paraylsis - where your mind shuts down your body so you dont thrash about while dreaming.

Its a "threshold event" for acheiving OOBEs or AP.

The trick is not to worry about it. Accept it. Just ignore it.

Wait until your body is buzzing so hard that you think you may explode (but remaing calm!!) and then will your self out. I say loudly in my mind "It is my will to leave my body NOW" - you should then feel yourself seperate and drift out.

Its not hard - as long as you remain calm. Its is essential to control your emotions and remain ambivient to all phenomenen while exiting.

Lucid Dreaming and AP both occur at the wake/sleep boundary. Any increase in heart rate will cause you to become more awake and drift out of the "sweet spot".

Remember some of Crowleys best advice :- True will, unaussuaged by purpose, and free from the lust of result, is in every way perfect.

You must be free from "the lust of result". APing becomes ridiculously easy once you learn to not care less if you succeed.

I use a combination of ritual, LD techniques and Nooptrics to AP/OOBE. I practice at least once a week. After a few years of practice I can have up to 5 or so full OOBEs a night.

Lucid Dreams are a gateway experience. I found myself having LDs when I was learning to AP. By finding out more on how to get Lucid I also increased my success rate in OOBE/AP. Scientists beleive that AP/OOBEs are the same thing as LD. I dont care either way - both experiences are amazing.

It does often feel like my body is trying to change shapes, I get the urge to pull my legs up/bring my arms in, but I fight it, which causes me to shake more.

It's interesting, if I just need to get used to it. Does it ever lessen?
