Ok, I must first say, I like my Ouija board and I enjoy using it.

I find it really only works if you have a male and female using it, because of the male and female energies working through the board.

But one thing I dont understand is, the hysteria, paranoia, superstition and hypocrisy that people have when it comes to the ouija board.

People are happy to use Tarot and Angel cards, Rune stones, crystal balls, mirrors etc etc etc, but the Ouija gets all the crap...Why?

Ok, from a psychological perspective, we are only instinctively scared of two things, Loud sounds and Falling.....thats it!!!

All other fears we have are inherited, usually from our mothers and our mothers behaviour when we were growing up, Spiders, snakes, balloons, mice, dogs, SHARKS and OUIJA BOARDS.

My theory is the last two, Sharks and Ouija boards have to be because the two biggest films of the 70's were JAWS and the EXORCIST and back then, these films sent people crazy, the hysteria these films caused was unimaginable, people were running down the street saying they were being chased by sharks, running in churches saying they were possessed.

The Fear these films generated reached far and wide, churches and preists were trying to ban the Exorcist, it was crazy and it effected alot of people, including the 20somethings of the 70's, the moms and pops of the people around today and their fear was past on to you guys and girls...

So I say forget the predudice, the inherited fear, the paranoia, hysteria and use it as just another tool to tap in the other realms/ your super consciousness or what ever you wanna call it!!!

After all, Runes, Tarots, etc all tap into the same thing as the Ouija, so sit back and enjoy and dont worry buy in to the nonsense....

Just my thoughts....

True the Oujia Board DID not become very popular because of The Exorcist. That movie WAS based on a true story. Except, it did not happen to a little girl, it happened to a little boy. The other reason so many people are afraid of it, is because they don't know what is going to come through when they use it. Now, I have three. I don't use them so much anymore. Not because I am afraid of them, but, because I have other divination tools that I use.

As said Aradia. However, ouija boards are more than a toy. Are a instruments for gettin' through your sub-conscious. What you get is from yourself. That's all the horror of the ouija. You can ask about a dead parent, then your desire is that a demon will manifest through the board because you fell so bad in that moment, then the joke is done. You've created your horror.

I am glad someone feels the same way here. I have had a ouija board in the past and enjoyed using it successfully but it mysteriously went missing! I have never replaced it but am hoping to do so soon.
I do however dislike the whole hatred and worry of the power of the ouija board. Wiccan shops are fine about selling runes and tarot cards and even something called a "spirit board" - wow dress it up and re-sell the ouija why don't you? We live in a funny ole world!
