Sit comfortably in an armless chair. Relax your arms to your sides. Point your forefingers towards the floor, firmly but without tension. Curl your fingers into loose fists. Now extend your thumbs so they cover the last three fingers curled up in your hands. Close your eyes about 75 percent and focus on an imaginary point a few feet from your nose.

Step One: Seven Minutes

Take a deep, five second breath. Inhale the air through your nose, softly ballooning your stomach as you fill your lungs. As you exhale, chant in a quiet voice the mantra Har Hare Hari Wha He Guru. Exaggerate your mouth with each vowel. Let the phrase come out slowly; each chant should take about six seconds or so. With every exhale-chant suck your stomach into your spine-don't force it, just let it naturally curve in. Repeat this step for about seven minutes.

Step Two: Two Minutes

After the verbal chanting, repeat the mantra to yourself without speaking it aloud. Listen to it in your mind.

Step Three: You will end by concentrating three deep breaths up into your chest. Start by inhaling through your nose to a count about five, filling up the top of your body. As you inhale, your spine should become erect, but not overly tensed. When you exhale, let your body relax, your shoulders fold in a bit, head hang-become the balloon half deflated. Repeat this two more times for a total of three breaths.

When you are ready, open your eyes. You have transcended your earthly self and are now clothed in a cloak of calmness, serenity, and good vibes that will cover you alll day. To end the ritual, chant "Har Hare Hari Wha He Guru." softly and once more.

Good post. I would also add grounding and centering before beginning (although, centering will be helped by the meditation itself), and lightly touching the tip of your tongue to the roof of your mouth, just a bit behind your top teeth. Keep the top and bottom teeth gently touching each other without tension. The last part with the tongue can be added during the verbal recitation of the mantra.

Kundalini is said to be a Godess in the form of a serpent coiled in 3 and a half turns. She is located at the tip of the spinal cord, debatably near the tail bone area. She is said to be resting or sleeping on a lotus which in scientific terms forms a gland.

The breathing technique described above should inculcate the sound of SO-HUM. SO, when inhaling and HUM whilst exhaling. SO-HUM is the answer to the question, Who am I, asked by your soul. It means, I am That, or in other words I am God. You see breath is the life essence of your body, which is why its given great importance in Hinduism. For awakening this beautiful fierce Godess one needs to focus his/her energy to the tip of the spinal cord attaching the flow of emotions with the energy. These emotions, be it of any type, fuel the "Prana" which in turn feeds the Godess and helps her to ascend through the spinal cord activating the chakras in the right direction. The Godess should be treated with utmost respect and gratitude, for She in the early stage of awakening is in the form of Kali, the crude and the uncontrollable form. However, with your correct flow of emotions, you can convert this energy emerging from Godess Kali into Durga, a much more subtle form of the same Godess. However, this doesn't at all mean that Kali is supposed to be feared. Kali is the essence of the initiation and can gift a person with dark arts, which in Hinduism are also respected as any kind of divination.

After all, all Godesses are considered as Mother's and God's as Father's. If this is true, how can a true child who loves his Mother and Father, ever fear them, unless hes done something wrong. :-)
