Could anyone tell me:
About the Necronomicon, is it for - or against demons?
Many people have different views on this. Some think it's evil, while others believe that it is to ward off evil?
What is the overall meaning and intentions for the Necronomicon?

Is this the one based on H.P. Lovecraft's books?

You mean the al-Azif, attributed to the Mad Arab Abdul Alhazred? Yep. That's Lovecraft. Demons are a subjective idea, especially as they relate to the Necronomicon. Lovecraft tells that they are actually the "Great Old Ones", primeval gods that came from the stars and predate our modern systems of religion. I was always a HUGE fan of H.P. Lovecraft, particularly in high school, and he is still my favorite horror writer (with the possible exception of older Clive Barker.) But, the actual Necronomicon is, as Aradia mentioned, a work of fiction. That being said, there is a movement within the Chaos Magick paradigm that uses these deities. I have also heard of invocations/evocations to Superman and Darth Vader within Chaos Magick, so whatever works, I suppose.

Lol, try to evoke Mickey Mouse some time. That works, too. When you think the concept of Egregore, it makes sense though.
You can also try Necronomicon Spellbook http://www.infinite-beyond.com/scripts/necronomiconspellbook.pdf Here it is. These sigils are OK. I just warn you about Suhrim and Zuhrim. You don't want to summon them. Barashakushu is the kindest and the most friendly one. Go with him.
