Types of Satanism

Lets get all the Types of Satanism down in one thread with a small Descriptions of what they involve and act around.

Heres a few:
Proclaimed Satanists: members of the documented Satanic churches, The First Church of Satan and the Temple of Set are examples. the age groups are usually young adults or older. They rarely admit juveniles. Their belief system is centered around principles of self-empowerment, individualism, responsibility, and questioning. They do not necessarily see Satan as an actual being or deity to worship. Often Satan is the symbolic representation of man's carnal nature.

Theatrical Satanists: These members are usually ages 9 to 17 years old and are called "wannabes" by some experts.They get their knowledge they have from commercial sources: music, movies, videos, magazines, television and friends. Usually they are part of a group of youth with similar interests. They often will dress like the rock stars to whose music they listen. They generally commit those violations of the law common to youthful offenders. Most mature and pass through this phase relatively unaffected, but a few may progress on to the next phase.


Experimental Satanists: Ranging in age from about 14 to 20, these members have sensed a power or fulfilled a need during the theatrical stage of involvement. They have now read and studied occult training manuals, and/or attended rituals conducted by more experienced practitioners. These people are now conducting rituals themselves. They are most often part of a group which might commit a wide range of crimes from vandalism to homicide. They may cut themselves to obtain blood for ceremonies. Drugs and sex are a part of their rituals, and they may participate in animal sacrifice.

:)Yankee Satanism - The belief that one is elite when he/she is just like everyone else. The Yankee Satanist also professes to be against the "herd mentality" but calls for Satanic unity. The Yankee Satanist also becomes extremely upset when his views are questioned without malice. The Yankee Satanist also doesn't have a sense of humor because that would require some semblance of intelligence.

Disclaimer: "Yankee Satanist" doesn't mean an American born Satanist. It's just a Satanist who adopted the bastardized version of it.

I don't care what a person's personal beliefs are, let's just be friends if the chemistry is there no matter if you're a Wiccan, Christian, Buddhist, whatever. It's a big world and we can all enlighten one another.

As far as the different types of Satanism, I tend to take my beliefs from Theistic, Deistic and Modern tenets. Like many, I take whatever I feel is applicable to me or what I relate to. Maybe I'm an Enigmatic Satanist.

Hey. If there's any questions on Satanism, we can all discuss them openly. I think that people were just being a wee bit sarcastic as to the different types of Satanism.

If I'm not mistaken, I thought that Theistic and Traditional are almost the same type or at least almost similar.

Does Spiritual have something to do with the Sumerian deities or is it a particular method of reveling/worshiping of Satan? When I try to find out exactly what Spiritual Satanism is, I get "Joy of Satan."

From what I've read, Luciferianism is the concept that Lucifer is the Light (Similar to my belief) and that Lucifer is the All.

Just to let you know... The First Church of Satan is NOT the COS. It is a totally different group.

The "First" Church of Satan is simply riffing off the real Church of Satan. They are two very different animals.

If I may post a bit of Satanic history in relevence to this thread;

Though the official start of Satanism is believed to be in 1966 with the founding of the Church of Satan, in 1948 barber Herbert Arthur Sloane of Ohio, founded a group called the Ophite Cultus Satanas that honored the horned god and found inspiration from the Syrian Gnostic sects referred to an Ophians from Egypt 100AD who worshiped the Serpent of the bible.

Just for the record, the Temple of Set is not a Satanic organization.
