Astral evocation help

Hi, I have been invoking archangels Michael and Metatron for months now, and I decided to try to summon Metatron into my crystal ball. He first asked me to summon him. So I have been performing a ritual and Metatron tells me that he is appearing in my crystal, but the problem is that I'm not connecting to the astral plane. Can anyone give me some advice on how to connect properly to the astral plane?

May I assume you have read Krostanios' The Art of Magicall Evocation

Yes I have Konstantinos' book. The archangels I invoked told me that scrying was not a prerequisite for astral evocation. But I hardly got any results so I'm currently trying to scry anyway.
