    Post Risky beginning?

    Hello people!

I have a question that bothers me a long time...
I began researching and reading about the occult a few years back. I collected books on various topics (my first book was The Necronomicon and I was fascinated even if is treated as fiction) but the topic that really sucks me in is the Goetia, Grimorium Verum and similar works (Barons Kingdoms Of Flames for example).
Of course I did a trough research and realized that only a really experienced occultist who has mastered meditation, visualisation, LBRP and all other Qaballistic stuff (middle pillar, fountain etc.) can perform those rituals. On the other hand when I look on Lo Milo Duquettes Illustrated Goetia he makes things look so simple... I am even surprised when I hear about some unusual ways of evoking (with candle magick, or just energizing the sigil etc.).
So the thing is: Do I have to master all of the energy work from a system that is basically closely related to religion (I am not a religious type - pics or it didn't happen :P) or should I just rush into the forest, draw a circle and hope that a spirit will not kick me in the face because of my lack of skills to see him and talk to him?
As I said in the Introduction section: I am not new to the occult. I dabbled with sigil magick (today I actually saw results from a work that I have done a few days ago) and some NAP from Geoff Gray Cobb (the 7 day rituals bored me to death even if they say that the stuff really works...).
Otherwise I am just a confused ˝armchair magickian˝. As I said, I am not a religious type but I like the Left Hand Path approach more than Quaballah or Paganism for example... What are your suggestion about combining some stuff together so I can step into magick for real and with solid results?

I do believe you can take what you want from certain paganism beliefs and make it your own. I practise all sides of Witchcraft I am a Pictish traditional with awareness of dietys and rituals with all different types of castings practises thats what my family taught me was a bit of everything.
I just strongly would advise not to cast anything without 100% faith and trust in what you are doing.

Basically I want results manifested in any way. I am not looking for spiritual enlightment, at least not until I have my material wishes and needs granted.
Pure power is what I am looking for... I saw you are more LHP oriented. What do you suggest on reading and practicing? Any books or works that you suggest reading and practicing?
I like the works of E.A. Koetting but there are just a few people that follow his path and his Order so there are just a few people that can confirm any success. I also have LaVeys Bible and Rituals but I treat him more a philosopher rather than magickian...

I don't allways, but I agree with Iza. What do you want, what path do you wish to follow? I'd listen too her. She's a good.

I take it your intersted in spirits. This is my fave subject as well. I recomend Krothstanthos book "the art of summoning spirits"

Thanks for the tip Broomh So basically you are borrowing from other traditions? Or do you just use similar deities and ritual arrangements?

Astral: Tnx! I will give it a read What kind of spirits do you actually work with? How many months have you spent practicing energy work before attempting anything?

Okay usually when people ask for pure power its because they feel powerless.
Also no matter what you will always have material wishes and needs.
The moment some are granted some people go like crack fiends just wanting more and more.
I understand eliminating the middle man/Diety and just wanting to do stuff yourself. You just need to focus on one task at a time. Not everything will fall into place at same time. Remember it isnt the destination but the journey that counts. Good luck on the journey.

Your welcome.I'm not sure how long I spent working with energies, sorry. I like to work with various spirits, but the ones I like the most are djinns and slyphs. I am currently looking into summoning Raiju.

PS: I think I got the authors name right but I might have made a mistake.

    Hope this helped!

I think we all borrow a bit here and there, regardless of tradition. The traditions themselves have done and continue to do this. I agree with Broomhilda's comment that a desire for power indicates a perceived lack thereof. I'd also be careful about not caring how you get what you want, just as long as you get it. That can happen in some ways that will make you wish it hadn't.

Thank you all for your replies I have been searching the forums a bit and from what I managed to impress in my mind is just to grab what I like and start working with it no matter what. I guess I will just stick to sigil magick and maybe I will implement some runes later. I will re-read E.A.s Works Of Darkness, Baneful Magick, Evoking Eternity and his previous grimoire Kingdoms of Flames (written under a pseudonim). I will take a look into Konstantinos and similar works... Thanks again But of course any further advice, suggestions, thoughts or experiences are welcome
