Default Liber 25 The Star Ruby

This version is copied from the .pdf file located at Ra-Hoor-Khuit Magickal Library
The Star Ruby is Liber 25 the pdf version has wave files of the greek pronouciations.

Facing East, in the centre, draw deep deep deep thy breath, closing thy mouth with thy right forefinger
prest against thy lower lip. Then, dashing down the hand with a great sweep back and out, expelling
forcibly thy breath, cry: ΑΠΟ ΠΑΝΤΟΣ ΚΑΚΟΔΑΙΜΟΝΟΣ.1
With the same forefinger touch thy forehead and say ΣΟΙ;2 thy member, and say Ω ΦΑΛΛΕ;3 thy right
shoulder, and say ΙΣΧΥΡΟΣ; thy left shoulder, and say ΕΥΧΑΡΙΣΤΟΣ; then clasp thine hands, locking
    the fingers, and cry ΙΑΩ.4
Advance to the East. Imagine strongly a Pentagram, aright, in thy forehead. Drawing the hands to the
eyes, fling it forth, making the sign of Horus, and roar ΘΗΡΙΟΝ. Retire thine hand in the sign of Hoorpaar-
    Kraat.5
Go round to the North and repeat; but say NUIT.
Go round to the West and repeat; but whisper BABALON.
Go round to the South and repeat; but bellow HADIT.6
Completing the circle widdershins, retire to the centre and raise thy voice in the Pæan, with these words
ΙΩ ΠΑΝ7 with the signs of N.O.X.8
Extend the arms in the form of a Tau, and say low but clear: ΠΡΟ ΜΟΥ ΙΥΓΓΕΣ ΟΠΙΣΩ ΜΟΥ
Repeat the Cross Qabalistic, as above, and end as thou didst begin.12
1 “Away, every evil genius!” Lit., “from every evil genius”; scil. “far from every evil genius”. (From the Greek Orthodox liturgy.)
2 Hear the comments on the pronunciation of this word:
3 Crowley’s note: “The secret sense of these words is to be sought in the numeration thereof.” One gematric identity is:
Ω ΦΑΛΛΕ = 1366 = ΦΑΛΛΟΣ + ΚΤΕΙΣ; but this is not noted in Crowley’s Greek Qabalah.
4 “Unto thee, O Phallus, be strength and benevolence. IAO!”
5 This ritual was originally published in The Book of Lies, but was revised for Magick in Theory and Practice. In The Book of Lies,
this name was spelt “Hoor pa kraat”. These two signs, of Horus and Hoor-paar-Kraat, may be found in The Equinox Vol. I
No. I, there titled “Blind Force” and “The Silent Watcher” respectively (The Equinox Vol. I No I).
6 The Book of Lies has “roar ΧΑΟΣ … scream ΒΑΒΑΛΟΝ … say ΕΡΩΣ … bellow ΨΥΧΗ”.
7 This is ΙΟ ΠΑΝ in The Book of Lies. Both variations are valid.
    8 These are Puer ( נ), Vir ( ע), Puella, Mulier ( צ) and Mater Triumphans. נעצ = N.O.X. = 210. See Liber V vel Reguli for
descriptions of the signs and Liber XXXVI: The Star Sapphire for their correct order.
9 Not the ungrammatical ΣΥΝΟΧΕΣ, as in The Book of Lies.
10 This is given as the meaningless ΦΕΓ ΕΙ in the first edition of Magick in Theory and Practice, a misprint for ΦΛΕΓΕΙ or
    perhaps ΦΕΓΓΕΙ, “shines”.
11 “Before me the Iunges (lit., “ones that cry”, from ιυγμος, “to cry [shout]”; hence an association with wrynecks, which were
used as charms by being bound on a revolving wheel), behind me the Teletarchai (the founders of the mysteries), on my right
hand the Synoches (the maintainers), on my left had the Daimons (Genii). About me flames the star of five, and in the column
stands the star of six.” The Iunges, Teletarchai and Synoches are Chaldean in origin: see The Chaldæan Oracles of Zoroaster,
Westcott, vv.54-58 inc., available online at The Chaldean Oracles.
12 Crowley makes some notes on this ritual in The Book of Lies, which are as follows: “25 is the square of 5, and the Pentagram
has the red colour of Geburah. The chapter is a new and more elaborate version of the Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram. It
would be improper to comment further upon an official ritual of the A∴A∴” The A∴A∴ Syllabus states: “It is an improved
form of the ‘lesser’ ritual of the Pentagram.”
[Ritual by Frater Perdurabo (Aleister Crowley), ed. & trans. by Frater Hoor and Frater YHVH. Pronunciation recorded (in modern Greek) by Frater YHVH.]

I enjoy doing this ritual quite a bit. I have yet to perform it as it was written in Liber 333 The book of lies. Where two of the officers are instead Eros and Psyche.

On occasion I have experienced a strange phenomina while performing this ritual of the pentagram. My voice sounds like two voices at the same time and my throat vibrates alot. the air in the area really crackles like its filled with a kind of charged lightning. Its gooood. Hurling the Pentagrams forth into the quarters while at the same time vibrating the names through the center of the outflung pentagram is a very interresting experience..takes some practice. The God form of The Enterer is in my opinion a very important aspect of this whole process. So I will also include A. Crowley's words on this...

    Taken from Liber 0
    3. The vibration of God-names. As a further means of
identifying the human consciousness with that pure portion of it
which man calls by the name of some God, let him act thus:
    4. (a) Stand with arms outstretched. (See Illustration).*
    (b) Breathe in deeply through the nostrils, imagining the
name of the God desired entering with the breath.
    (c) Let that name descend slowly from the lungs to the
heart, the solar plexus, the navel, the generative
organs, and so to the feet.
    (d) The moment that it appears to touch the feet, quickly
advance the left foot about twelve inches, throw
forward the body, and let the hands (drawn back to
the side of the eyes) shoot out, so that you are
standing in the typical position of the God Horus,*
and at the same time imagine the Name as rushing up
through the body, while you breathe it out through
the nostrils with the air which has been till then
retained in the lungs. All this must be done with all
the force of which you are capable.
    (e) Then withdraw the left foot, and place the right
forefinger† upon the lips, so that you are in the
characteristic position of the God Harpocrates.‡
    5. It is a sign that the student is performing this correctly
when a single “Vibration” entirely exhausts his physical strength.
It should cause him to grow hot all over, or to perspire violently,
and it should so weaken him that he will find it difficult to remain
    standing.
    6. It is a sign of success, though only by the student himself
is it perceived, when he hears the name of the God vehemently
roared forth, as if by the concourse of ten thousand thunders; and
it should appear to him as if that Great Voice proceeded from the
    Universe, and not from himself.
In both the above practices all consciousness of anything but
the God-form and name should be absolutely blotted out; and the
longer it takes for normal perception to return, the better.
    * See Illustration in Equinox Vol. I. No. 1, “Blind Force.”
† Or the thumb, the fingers being closed. The thumb symbolizes spirit, the
forefinger the element of water. [Note added in the version of “Liber O” in Magick in
    Theory and Practice.]
‡ See Illustration in Equinox Vol. I. No. 1, “The Silent Watcher.”

Very good resource that site. (Welcome to Ra-Hoor-Khuit Network)

Ah, my favorite ritual. It is the first one I started practicing regularly. I remember being amazed and how it could instantly lift my mood.

I prefer to use the SR rather than the LBRP. Ive read it described as, where the LBRP is a soft symphony, the Star Ruby is a heavy metal concert.
Performing it astrally has had some very interesting results for me. If you can memorise well enough then I recommend giving it a go.
