    Default Music anyone?

Now, as I've said in my posts before I don't know much. I only know what works for me. But I must ask, has anyone played music to use there will in a constructive manner. I mean I have this suspicion that most famous guitarists or musicians in general, use a sort of bard like system to hell create thier fame. Instead of relying on luck they are subconsiously using thier talent to make themselves succeed. I'm probably just blowing smoke, but I can't help but feel there is some mighty big coincidences there. Or you know they could just be talented :P

Main question, Have you used the ability to create music to further your own magical ends?

well depends, if i am working with dragon magick, its highly recogmended to dance with them either before or after the ritual, or sometime later on, it builds the friendship, and i use a bell, but as far as musicians being in any way shape or form pagan, some are, led zepplin members all except one were satanic worshipper (no secret intent on that, and led zepplin kicks ass), so its possible, but i doubt every single musician is a pagan, even subconsciously, they are just given the gift of the music, and there are some really great garage bands that are as good as any of the major bands, but they just never make it because its so freaking hard to get there

I sing in tongues when I am ready to go into trance. For my rituals I like eastern music and for my spells i must have complete quiet. When I meditate I played loud music as if you can meditate during noise and not falter you have it it.

Judging from the fascination with Aleister Crowley, I would call Led Zeppelin not Satanists but Thelemites – although I guess Christians wouldn’t recognize a difference there. I think most artists are using magick in on way or another, regardless of whether they consider themselves Christian, Pagan, or whatever. The creation of art is IMHO one of the purest and highest forms of magick.

I listen to Led Zep sometimes when doing Tarot spreads with the Book of Thoth or other Thelema related work, purely due to the Crowley connection and my appreciation of their music. Sometimes I’ll use stuff like Coil, Throbbing Gristle or Psychic TV for meditative or ritual purposes. The best of course is to compose your own music. I primarily play my acoustic as a songwriter, but when it comes to magick, I generally create electronic compositions that I can loop in the background while I work.

Coming from a ceremonial magick tradition, there are all kinds of correspondences and Quabalistic influences you could incorporate into music. As a Chaos magician, I gravitate towards using my own sigils and then ‘encoding’ them musically. For example, rather than using letters to create visual sigils, you can associate each letter with a musical note. Or as someone suggested on another forum I read awhile back, you can “draw” your sigil in the pattern editor of a drum machine or sequences. Of course the trick is making it musically pleasing. I’m probably way off track from what you’re talking about with this method, but it might be useful to those are looking for unique ways to incorporate music into their workings.

There is a tape, I have it that was done on the circulation of light through mathematical formulations. As soon as you put it on it puts you into the grasp towards the stone so you are not off at all.

I often use Karl Sander's cds "Saurian Meditations" and "Saurian Exorcisms". Both have an intese aura, and can bring you into his world very easily if you let it, I often visualize dark egyptian chambers and the like. Fans of the metal band Nile will recognize Karl's knack for really harnessing middle eastern sounds and creating a genuine atmosphere.

Also Anouar Brahem plays a mean oud. Quite interesting stuff and can serve to be very meditiative, and also Ali Jihad Racy has a great cd for the egyptian world. I often use these as background for ritual, and can be yet another valuable tool to heighten your Ritual Consciousness.
