Default Free form LBRP and peculiar dreams

    Hello,

For over a year I have been dabbling with magic; recently I have been able to get myself into the habit of daily ritual and meditation. With this new habit, I have created my own banishing ritual --a mixture of the Sun Salutation and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram (Archangels and K-Cross included).

Now, for about the past week I have been consistently performing this ritual and ending it with a simple meditation. Oddly enough, this past week I have also been experiencing some unpleasant dreams but mostly peculiar, on occasion.. fantastic, but mostly peculiar. I mean, extremely peculiar... I'll be holding something which then turns into a piece of deep fried shrimp tempura... or I'll be taking the subway and all of a sudden I am riding the rails and shooting lightning from my feet, only then to be swimming in a river of multicolored melted ice cream.

    My question is:

Are these dreams correlated with my practice or nothing more than coincidence? If they are in fact correlated, what is your theory of this correlation? Are my neuron's being remapped? Am I channeling some creative force?

    Your response is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Zos

I think that it is beter for you that you do LBRP as it is and after that you do Sun Salution (or Surya Namasakara) and then some meditations tehnikue. If you are tring to change something you have to be fully aware of what every move or act means in work (LBRP and Surya Namaskara). I don't think that it is good to change something the way you want. It is important that you first do some great studis and workings befor try to change anything!

Your dreams can be a warning that you are doing something wrong but it can also be something that was deep in your consciousnes and it is coming out through dreams and into you material life (in the form of wory, fear,...).

I respectfully disagree. I think that's the whole point of chaos magick. You glean from other kinds of magick (ceremonial, runic, traditional witchcraft etc) and you take what works for you. If you don't experiment and grow creatively and start working your own personal magick, then what's the point of chaos magick anyway?
If the OP is changing things to suit his/her need, and it's working, then he/she's not doing anything wrong, only what works for him/her.

OP, I think that you are probably opening up your chakras and you are becoming more aware of you subconscious mind. I think your dreams are signifying the subconscious changes that are taking place and that if you continue with your daily practice you'll probably come to a point where the dreams are no longer frightening but empowering.
If you are banishing your fear daily, then it has to be released somehow, and if it's through your dreams, then so be it. I imagine soon though, that you will lose your fear completely and be able to start focusing more on your practice and whatever goals it is you want to accomplish.

    Good luck!

Now if only I could muster up that willpower to maintain a daily practice.. hmm something to work towards perhaps?

Interesting. I don't know about western occult but i do know that it is good to do some research befor changing something. By that i mean what elements and/or things are in relation (something like that). Yes it is true that it can be the sign of opening one of your chakras or some other subtel chanels. It's hard to tell what can it be because we don't know with what energies are you doing also. But we sure can be in hellp to you by giving some of the advices .

I'm more in eastern occult and i sometimes do change things but with care (if i'm doing with chakras i use gods and goddesses or colors and mantras or numbers or yantras that are assosiated with them - i don't use black color in working with mooladhara [root] chakra or i don't use green color for ajna chakra (third eye) - maybe there is someone that had experienced diffrend colors with diferend chakras, but not me; at least not for now) and sometimes i'm triing to listen to my heart and sometimes my intuition or even both - but ego is very crafty and he is able to do everithing so that he will survive. It is the same with our mind witch can be wery devastating but for those who know can bi the perfect tool to do magic and to reach higher levels of existence. So you can't use everithing that you want, i belive, but you can try (it is also good to have some one that will gide you and someone that is know what is your condition right now (or read a loooot) because if there will appear something unknown to you, you will not freaked out or something ). so, nn many cases you can't use any yantra or mantra for everithing.

But it is true that what is good for you may not be good for someone else. I belive that there are no rules writen in a stone. But we have to be careful about chainging things (at least i am - i'm triing to be careful what i use because i belive magic is not some babys toy and i'm doing it with care and devotion).

That is somehowe my opinion. Please correct me if i'm wrong!

Thank you for both of your answers.

AharaVimaladvaita- I greatly respect your opinion but I prescribe to the chaos magic philosophy. Let me ask you this, if I am able to execute a banishing ritual while doing the Surya Namaskara, do you not think I know how to conduct the LBRP in detail? I have the ritual memorized stone cold and I have studied many of the correspondences with the Kabbalistic cross, but not all. Anyways, the LBRP has variations of its own among numerous paradigms, the purpose really is to center oneself in a ritual space, and believe me... after I conduct my version of it, I'm not even in the room I am practicing in... more of my own... creative chaosphere.

jaggednib- I lean towards your answer because when I was formally practicing the LBRP intermittently I eventually became very empowered and reached a peak in confidence in all my work for a long time. If you are having a hard time getting into consistent practice, let me offer you this: try anchoring your practice. What is something you find pleasure in? For me it's playing video games... so what did I do? I would sit in half lotus position while playing and switch to my other leg every so often until I could associate that pleasure with sitting in half lotus and meditating. Another example... if you enjoy watching tv, try a ritual during a commercial, be creative, friend.

Sun Salutations have been part of my banishing habits for some time, pretty successfully so, if I do say so myself. It feels very comfortable to me, somehow.

On the topic of daily practice, specifically anchoring. Do you not think of video games when you meditate, since that's what you anchored it to?

That is a good question, let me answer it with many other questions...

When you meditate, do you only think of meditation?

When you drive, do you only think of driving (By the way, thats a great way to practice meditation, only focusing on your driving and pushing aside all other thoughts)?

When you play video games, do you only think of the video game?

No! Your mind wanders all over, just as it does when you're trying to silence it during meditation... the act of anchoring simply makes the transition to meditation a bit more pleasureful and makes it easier to do habitually.
