    Default Servitor Question

I am creating a servitor and had a few questions. i was reading Michael Pope's blog and he talked about different ways to "feed" a servitor. He mentioned that by building a material base, one could directly give energy to the servitor at certain times of the day. What I want to know is is you have a material base, can you only exclusively feed the servitor this way? Since my servitor's sigil also use's the symbol of leo, I would like the servitor to feed off of the sun. Would there be a contradiction between using a material base and trying to get the servitor to receive it's energy from the sun?

You can specify a continuous or periodical source of energy for your servitor in the initial "programming" stage, when you describe how its powers and duties work. The power source should make sense for the servitor's nature and function. For example, a "guard dog" servitor meant to protect your home could be linked to a nearby ley line, but a stationary power source would make little sense for a "bodyguard" type meant to follow you around.

Using the sun as a power source is certainly possible, but remember this would make it weaker in darkness or on rainy days. If this is acceptable, go for it. I suggest using the power source in the activation ceremony. Cast the summoning/manifestation spell at high noon in full sunlight. Note that a continuous energy source does not remove the need for a large initial activation charge. The energy source provides maintenance costs only, not the initial "jump start."

I actually planned to do the working on Aug. 20 on noon. Not only would the month be in leo, but so would the lunar cycle for that day. Then there's high noon further cementing the sun/leo motif.

I don't want to continually feed the bugger myself, as everywhere I've read this seems to be a bad idea. What would you suggest?

Leo is a fire sign. Give it the ability to feed off of any source of elemental fire. Sunlight will probably remain its favorite "food" but it will be able to sustain itself with other sources on cloudy days. Some of the most common sources of accessible fire energy are the dragon lines that form along roadways. Make sure you include a provision for safety in the programming. You don't want it encouraging arson in order to feed.

I've been thinking, and i think I found a solution. i could get it to feed off of electricity. Even though some would think that electricity doesn't fall under the fire element, i think there is some precedent ot this. Orthodox Jews refuse to use elecricity on the sabbath, because of the commandment against kindling a fire on the day of rest. So what they would do is that they will leave lights on and leave a fire on during the sabbath, so as to not transgress the commandment. I think I'll do that so as to not have to worry about weakening at night and cloudy days.
