    Default New to Paganism

Basically, yesterday i payed a visit to my local store that deals in more or less Paganism, as the wife of the man that owns the shop is a Pagan and her husband is a Druid, and deals in Pagan things, or something along those lines.

We talked for a bit about various topics and some spellcasting and i came to the decision that i'd go home, find a website for this kind of thing, and when i discovered what i wanted to do, i'd come back and follow it up, buying whatever i need from the shop more or less.

So my question is, could someone take the time to rougly explain paganism, the different types of paganism, and what i should know so i can choose what i want to pursue?

If you don't have the time to do this or cannot be bothered, do not tell me to stop being lazy, everything i have looked up so far has confused me, i'm just seeking help from experienced individuals.

    Thanks, Blessed Be?

I am too lazy to explain it, so this should help you and it is easy to understand, read it and then if you have questions feel free to ask.

Paganism is the oldest religion known to man. To explain it all, would require some one to type for days.
When the listening is good, life is good
He who listens is the master of what is beneficial
Listening is beneficial to the listener
Listening is better than anything else
That is how perfect love is born.

paganism is the root of religion, mysticism, and magick.

paganism is the old way which all these are based upon.

paganism is the oldest of the relgiions or spiritualities and the foundation of our current religions. things such as Aset and Horus becoming the Theotokos(mary) and jesus can be found in various sculptures and paintings. Also, the fact the xtianity plagiarised pagan religions is one of the first things that helped me become free of that weak and all but dead dogma.

if you could please be more specific i could help more, id suggest hanging around here for a while and going ahead and asking the store owner which books should start with

    As Above,So Below,

Being confused is good. It's a natural reaction and a quick reminder not to believe everything you read. My personal take on what pagan is will be different from someone discussing Paganism and different still from the standpoint of a Neopagan -who might be more inclined to follow 'pagan' literature in an ironically dogmatic fashion.

The best advice that I can offer is to read up on anthropological perspectives on pagan life and practise. Don't take the words of just one source as truth -cross reference everything -doubt everything -consider all as simple perspective and then draw your own conclusions.

paganism is a general term and shamanism falls under paganism.

even Hinduism is paganism, it is said that it's meaning is country dweller, rustic and that is its root, though a simpler way of explaining it is perhaps "root" its self or the old way in religious terms.

Though I think I see your meaning perhaps in that one should not call it such for its connotation of being outdated and irrelevant. perhaps Monotheism and polytheistic should be used, but I think polytheistic does not adequately encompass the right term, then again nor does paganism depending on the source of definition.
