    Default Meditaion in Thailand

    Hi

I just did some work in Thailand and have 3 points where any comments would be welcome.

I have been on a silent meditation for the very first time for a week in Thailand using Appana to start with to focus and purify the mind and body. Then on day 4 start Vipassana.

1* on day 1 I experienced a dark energy surface around the heart and it wouldn't release. I got frustrated with it and visualised something powerful in my hand and ripped it out. I wasn't sure after if I had damaged the area. The next day I was visited by an Indian figure who I know in the astral form who did some work to the area then went. Shortly after that I experienced the shoulder open up and an entire sheath of my body being removed. I felt withdrawn and cleansed thereafter and no more dark energy. I have no idea what exactly happened other than that.

2* on the very first episode with Vipassana on the 4th day I experienced an energy shield covering my entire upper body and head. It was flexible, and seemed to have some sort of intelligence separate from my own and possibly it independent respiratory system. It was most easy to view around the forearms and had additional objects within it that surfaced outside. It seemed to have semi mechanical function different to my own. The energies of it were aligned directly to the third eye area. A spiritually advanced person mentioned this once a few years ago, but I had forgotten about it. I have no more details about this.

3* I left the course after experiencing this. My total body focussed in small areas or as a whole. Either inside or outside, being flesh, organ or bone was total impermanent energy which had no reason to abide by the known conventional laws of physics. Example a sword or bullet could pass straight through without affecting it. Where to go from here??

I would stop at thinking a sword or bullet can not pass through bone and I hope you are not seriously considering trying it. You are not even near being a Yogi or advanced in anything to be able to do that and if you were you would not be on this forum.

    Not at all....

turn it around - if you sit in a fast car and someone lets you loose for the briefest moment, it hardly qualifies you as a F1 threat. It takes a very long time to master all the aspects providing you have the time, determination and skill to achieve the goal.

You premsume I perhaps want this or that, possibly on the side of caution!!

I am here to learn ONLY.

If you read between the lines you will learn a lot from Queen Zelda, and I'll bet you she never presumes anything.

Well the thread has been commented on only by a few people. I would say this though, before moving on to anything else I would make sure I can do this at will and the exact same way every time. I then would caution you to doing any harm to yourself or others because of this newfound belief because of the inherent risk to your being. And finally I would like to know the name of the place you did this study in Thailand, I'm a bit of a book worm when it comes to cultural ideals and beliefs.

    Thanks for the reply.

No intention of harm here at all, it was an analogy. There was an experience (insight) that at the very deepest level the physical body is pure shimmering energy and it has no requirement to respond solid objects it encounters. Obvously in the gross normal form it does respond to solid objects.

The course is an international foundation which is easy to access in most western countries. It gets mixed reviews. It is a powerful experience. No point reading about this as this particular method discourages any reading and emphasises that all progress will be made by experience only.

If you are interested to look further here's some info. Pros of the course are; its well managed and is a complete course. Good food and quarters. Goenka is a very effective teacher.

Cons - You stick to a rigid DVD course, virtually no interaction with the onsite teacher. The onsite teacher wasn't very good at my course. Goenka's chanting isn't the most pleasant on the ear.

Probably better to do it in Asia if you have the chance.

    (from Wiki)

Sri Satya Narayan Goenka (born 1924) is a leading lay teacher of Vipassanā meditation and a student of Sayagyi U Ba Khin. He has trained more than 700 assistant teachers and each year more than 100,000 people attend Goenka sponsored Vipassana courses. Mr. Goenka is married to Ilaichidevi Goenka who sits as co-teacher with him. They have six sons.

SN Goenka emphasises that, "The Buddha never taught a sectarian religion; he taught Dhamma - the way to liberation - which is universal" and presents his teachings as non-sectarian and open to people of all faiths or no faith. Goenka calls Vipassana meditation an experiential scientific practice, through which one can observe the constantly changing nature of the mind and body at the deepest level, a profound understanding that leads to a truly happy and peaceful life

Be your own teacher and run in circles. It's far more productive.
