This is sooooooooooooo very correct. For example, ''White'' is often seen in the West as being a color of purity, of goodness, of life and light. In the East, it is seen as cremation ash - of which Shiva is covered in. Due to the association with Shiva (death) and the impurities of the body - White is seen as evil in the East. It is all conditioning. However, I think the hues (dark and light) are pretty much the same.
