Default Newbie in tarot reading... need help...

Hi, I am new to tarot reading. I just started tarot reading 3 days ago. I did a few readings for mysel. I did my first reading for my dad and it is all right. However, my second reading for my dad is not so accurate.

I am using the rider-waite deck.

Okay, here is my dad's question (The second reading):
    How will my luck be?

Here is what I drew from the card:

Significator: I choose the fool, as I do not know if my dad's luck will be good or bad. I think of my dad as being on a quest to search for his luck, and therefore I choose the fool.

    First Card(Past Experience):
    Fifth of Pentacles

Second Card(opportunity for growth): Forth of Pentacles

Third Card (Future):Wheel of fortune Card

Fourth Card (General Comment): Eight of Wand

    My interpretation:

Past Experience: The card shows two people wandering about in poverty. I interpret it as my dad's past luck is not very good.

Opportunity for growth: The person is holding tightly to four pentacles. It seems that he is concerned with material wealth. I interpret this as my dad needs to guard his material possession with more care, instead of wasting them away in gambling, if he wants to gain wealth.

    Future: Wheel of forture card.
I interpret it as luck is not certain. There can be ups and downs in luck. There is no guarantee as to whether the future luck is good or bad.

    General comment(Eight of Wand):
This shows eight wands flying straight to the sky.
I am not sure how to interpret this card.

Conclusion: My dad said my reading is not accurate. I will like to ask you how you will read the cards if you were me. Thanks for your help.

the accuracy of an answer is not in the cards but in the question.

I use the Celtic cross myself, what I like to do is shuffle and cut many times then I spread(or fan) the cards face up; the significater should represent the questioner, I use the astrological table in 777, and then find the asto. dates add days between those dates and divide by 3 or in divisions of 9 days so basically you take those dates and group them in 3 degrees, so start with aries, then taurus and so on, or you can find a table somewhere. when you find it put the deck with the significator on top and the other half on the bottom.

the significator is place, and represents the questioner in general.
the first is placed over the significator and is the general influence of the situation.
the second is placed over the first cross wise to represent opposing forces.
the third is placed below the second and represents conscious thoughts in the matter.
the fourth is placed over the second and represents the unconscious thoughts in the matter.
the fifth is placed to the left and represents past or passing influences.
the sixth is placed to the right and represents influences in the near future.
the seventh is placed to the far right of the fourth and represents the questioner.
the eighth card above the seventh represents the environment.
the ninth above the eighth represents the hopes and fears.
and the tenth above the ninth represents the outcome.

there is also counting of majority of trumps, suits, numbers, etc. with meanings of there own, which can enhance the accuracy.

it is also good to have the question ingrained in your mind as if in a meditative state. this will keep out other influences, such as: boy that sandwich I had for lunch was really good, it can muddle a reading.

this is basic cabalistic cross, and is for a general reading there are many spreads out there for more specific situations.
Man is invited to question, discover, explore,
and manipulate the world around him and use it for his benefit.

Default Here's how I'd read them

The first card was the past and five of pentacles followed immediately by four of pentacles. I would interpret that a state of heightened worry on your father's part about material affairs--remember that he asked a generally wide open subjective question so it could easily describe his feelings--

five of pentacles is a sense of lack which compensated for by protective and defensive attempts to maintain control over the material realm. Wheel of Fortune and 8 of wands on the other hand represent a new and adventurous phase which is pursuing available opportunity.

I never use significators myself but am quite intrigued by your using them to pose a question, I might try that next time.

With most tarot decks there is a booklet that has information about the cards interpretation... as the maker made the deck.

Normally I follow through with that interpretation and then apply it to that person's life, if I pick up anything from Higher Self or spirits I add that in as well.

An important part of reading the tarot is putting the person's energy in the deck. If they don't believe in energy, I normally tell them to hold the cards and focus on them... thinking of the question in mind if I am answering a specific question. Otherwise if they can direct their energy I tell them to hold it and do so.

Then I follow a procedure similar to your own.
Those who Fall will find their Heaven
    and will always be adored.
