This is why it is called Glamour Magick, the dissatisfaction with one's looks and it is good practice in rearranging one's appearance when it is necessary. Which is why I said be careful what you wish for. My husband and I when we are out he will see someone he does not want to deal with he looks at me and says make yourself invisible we do and walk right next to the person and they do not see us. I suppose to some they like the idea of being totally different in looks. Who knows what goes on in one's mind.

As for the whole changin ones vibes this can be very useful technique to learn. I often
experiment with changing my vibes whilst walking through town I make my self invisible to those charity workers who stop you in the middle of your day to fool you into signing up to some direct debit deal. I also use a similer technique when trying to get served in a bussy bar.
Reasons behind actions would vary, it is indeed much simpler to use a few dollars to buy the homeless guy on the corner a real meal, than to cast a spell so he might get some food (a good example in my opinion)

Then again not fully an equal example. I would perhaps try to change a small physical feature of something for the experience, or (in Lady Dunsany's case) because using contacts or surgery to create a change of eye color is expensive or too much daily care. Another reason might be threat of immediate danger, for instance a housewife who ran from her abusive husband (and as anyone who's been in such a situation knows, they tend to not want to go to the police for help.. Regrettably.) I would do such a ritual to help make her either less noticeable, or look different enough that her abuser would not be able to find her as easily. In addition to less magickal means of offering my help...

Then again I might be completely missing the intent of your question and just pointing out the obvious o.o hahaha.

Glamour magic? The only place I've really heard of that from is a movie that is familiar to us all, I'm sure... "The Craft"

Anyways... My view on glamour magic is to use one's energy to bend the appearance of the matter at hand (whether it be a personality, vibe, appearance of person, etc...) In this process, the appearance of what something was becomes what is desired.

As for using glamour magic personally, I haven't found the need to use it, yet.

I did not see that movie. A friend of mine did and she said it was an insult to her. She said it was another Hollywood movie which was nothing but a load of bull. I could not comment having never seen it.

It was really funny, but in regards to the Craft, yes an insult. But there are others more insulting than this one...

However, I believe there was a major lesson to be learned in that movie... Messing with the Craft can open doors to certain powers that you may not be able to control, and seeking the power to control all others will lead you to become insane... (the girl who did this ended up being put in an insane asylum.)

an accurate and comprehensive description for one who seems to not have experience on the subject, bravo! It may also be taken into account that all of what we see is nothing more than mere patterns of light and darkness, which are put together by the brain. I have a theory that what keeps us all seeing the same thing (excepting cases of mental illness, though my theory takes this into account) is a sort of "mental highway" that connects to all beings. (mental illness presents as a "break" in the bridge) So taking this theory as truth, the process of glamour magick to change the physical might use this mental highway to change the effect of what is seen. As opposed to changing the effect of what is. Though both are possible. (again- still assuming the theory is truth)

Mixing science and magick in fact, does come up with very interesting results. The supernatural operates on a natural level. Which is why when a prosperity spell is cast money doesn't fall from the sky.

On the subject of The Craft: the movie itself was somewhat enjoyable, albeit based 95% in fiction ( at one point, an incantation is said, and with a sweep of her hands one of the four ladies changes her hair from brown to blond .. lol ) but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's an insult. Then again, I've got a thick skin against such things. Which causes me to be blunt at times.

I understand all too much about being blunt, Saieane... I normally get told off by friends for doing it.

You actually brought up one of my pet peeves... Calling magic supernatural when indeed, it is all natural! I tend to get so aggravated with people who have used that and keep my cool but tell them it is quite natural, in fact, the only supernatural is on the receiving end of an unsuspecting victim who has no idea what you have just done. In that case, on your part, you used your energies, your prayers, your mind and body, and your resources and even if the Divine had a place in it, the Divine is within you and not some outside influential force that demands we bow down and worship.

I guess you can say from that, "You are the Divine."

(Not to go off topic, but I believe that "Deities" are actually "Entities" who are ancient and very powerful beings, but the practitioner is in fact "God.")

I believe the only thing I can say here is...
    I agree, wholeheartedly. Bravo.
