Default Do you use your hair in Magick?

When i give myself a haircut, or remove hair from my brush, i often wonder about how i might better dispose of, or use my hair. I know some people will ritually dispose of their hair to protect themselves. I understand others, myself included, sometimes give their hair back to nature.

If you have any rituals or Magick spells involving the use of your hair, i would be interested in hearing about them, if you are comfortable sharing.

I have never used my hair for a ritual but did witness an individual who used other's hair or their own in rituals for popularity or curses. They would take clippings and fashion them into a writing brush of sorts. During the casting they drew and wrote using the brush.
Not sure how well a popularity charm worked for someone who went around taking other peoples hair though...

Hair is often connected with Vanity or in men, sexual virility (though not as much the case in modern America).

The greeks knew this in the story of Aphrodite and a woman who chopped off all of her hair in order so that she may find true love. She had hair that was more beautiful than Aphrodite's, but Love was more important to her. So the Goddess not only gave her the love of her life but turned her hair into the milky way.

I wish I remembered the name of the woman though. >.>

In either case, a sacrifice has power if it is PERSONAL. Livestock in the olden days was not only sacred because it has life, but because people depended on livestock for daily necessities. The only difference is sexual juices and blood, because they connect directly with our life-force... but I don't suggest that.

I've used hair in terms of rebirth rituals, since I do take pride in my hair. If I need to completely let go or connect with my higher self - I cut my hair and attain gnosis.

I've also used other people's hair in order to cast spells on them. It helps you better focus on the target this way... which is really the only benefit of it.

Not very often, but there was one instance where I used my hair in a healing ritual for a friend of mine who is like a brother to me.

I use my hair sometimes, but not often. Maybe one in a full moon or something, but otherwise I love my hair.

Hair, dead skin and nail clippings when working with Djinn and the Qliphoth
They are to be placed in deep cracks in the earth where they act as sacrifices to these Black Forces.

I've used hair and all sorts of parts off of myself for various things like incense transmutations, an anointing, offerings for ritual, etc.

Curious if there is a way to sac my falling out hair to something to get my hair back (falling out due to medication). Yes I'm vain enough that I treasure my hair, by far my fave feature of myself (or tied with eyes actually).

Although I rarely use my own hair, I do use peoples hair in poppets.

Default By the hairs of my chin

Your own hair is used in ancient processes to bind things or people to you. The danger of using your own hair in rituals is that of the item you have created falling into the wrong hands.
I knew a powerful magus who used the hair from his chin (clipped out of his beard) as a protective fetish hung above the entrance of his home. He placed it high so it could not be reached, and unless he showed it to you, you would not have noticed it.
The ritual he did in connection with it was never told, as it was his own personal protective device. He merely said that he once had a problem with thieves and dishonest people who'd entered his home, and this was a potent safeguard against it.

Pubic hairs are also used in very ancient love spells, as was hair from the crown of the head. In most cases, hair used in ceremonial or ritual ways is not the hair of the one performing the rites. It is part of the target itself.

Using hair in magick is bound to superstition in most countries, you can use hair in binding, protection spells etc, I have only done it a couple of times to attract air elementals. Mostly used in curses though...
