    Default Quick Path to HGA?

I've been studying the Golden Dawn system for some time, and while much there is of merit, I'm just not interested in some of the same things right now. The system is built for Adepts to come out familiar with a wide variety of magickal techniques and a broad knowledge of symbolism. While I wouldn't mind coming back and learning some of these techniques, I am primarily concerned with attaining the HGA and building a healthy, strong aura/astral body/whatever you want to call it. The rest are just side concerns.

Does anyone know of a good system focused on this purpose? I have thought about sticking with the LBRP + MP rite, building the other Sephiroth on as I go. Perhaps I could add the SIRP.

Of course, there is the Abramerlin Operation, but I am not sure I have adequate time or resources to complete that.
"And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness." - 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

"Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person... has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow." - Colossians 2:18-19

You could always try the handclap and bell technique. Clap your hands three times and ring a tibetan bell. This always works, and if it doesn't it will the next time you do it. If it isn't your HGA that you gain K&C of, it will at least be some Secret Chefs...who have amazing secret recipes, they also give you tons of familiars...and make you invisible in the kitchen.

Talking out loud works. All the trappings are cool if you are still trying to convince yourself of the reality of it all. But, if you want to get in touch with HGA just talk to him/her. Frequently. We all like a little attention now and again. And give him/her a name. If it isn't correct enough, s/he will tell you.
You may be a bit disappointed if you are expecting wind to blow and chills down your spine.(although, I always get what I call Holy Ghost bumps) Often the answer come in the most 'natural' form. It's just another form of basic majick anyway. And patience and persistence is the key.
    That is my experience, anyway.
    When in doubt,...smash something.

If I'm not mistaken the Holy Guardian Angel is also the Higher Self. There are two simple but powerful meditations that facilitate your connection to your Higher Self or Higher Soul (as it is called in other traditions). These meditations are taught in the book "Achieving Oneness With The Higher Soul" by Master Choa Kok Sui.

The LBRP should be enough (with the MP a very nice extra) since you're invoking your Higher Self and trying to raise Malkuth to Tiphareth with the entire ritual. Every little part of it tends to show the raising of Malkuth.

This isn't something I'd rush or try to find a "quick-fix" for. It can take up to 6 months of doing the LBRP to really grasp everything. Within that time, especially if you have more experiance with other systems, I'm sure you'll start to find your HGA and understand your higher self.

    1. That the HGA and Higher Self are one and the same. This is a common belief, and I think it is erroneous. Even Crowley, who was the main advocator of this belief, changed his mind later in life and thought that the two were seperate. If you were to assign both to the Tree of Life, the HS would be in Tiphareth, while the HGA would be in Da'ath, being your bridge and intermediary between the lower and supernal realms. The HS is experienced much earlier than the HGA, and one of the most effective rituals (in its apparent simplicity) is, as kleet suggested, the LBRP. Different rituals are required for the HGA when considered seperate to the HS.

    2. That there is or should be a fast path to the HGA. I believe the pure attempt to rush this process will create new barriers to achieving it. "Do not lust for results" is the old axiom, and is good advice in this circumstance.

    LLLSHJ,
    Yechidah.
I am curious, then. I have been practicing the LBRP and MP for a long time. (On and off since about 1978, pedantic info, I suppose. For, what little it is worth).
Would not the HGA be an extension of our psyche? Carl Jung has proposed, and I have experienced, and thus, accept as postulate (thus far) that the psyche behaves very much as if it were a separate personality from ours and prudence suggests it be treated as such.
The suggestion that HGA is , in fact, a separate entity, and not just typical Crowley tongue in cheek polemics,...

The higher self is not just a finale destination that one attains and remains there, it is a continually changing aspect of ones life bringing us to higher level of existence as we work more and more with the different works LBRP, MP

As we continue to practice and incorporate the ritual work and the teachings of say the Tree of Life brings us to a higher level today then we were yesterday, discovering the where we are on our path. We we continually raise our vibrations and sense the energy and recognize these changes were are altering the psyche and the psychological aspect of the mind, though it has been said and done that one can practice a solitary practice of magick and ritual work it is recommend the you do seek a mentor or a temple that can monitor what is happening on the psychological level as stated in the earliest of times

    Question

The HS can be experienced as both the self and an external entity (i.e. you can have discussions, as your Lower Self, with your Higher Self, as if you were two different people); however, at the end of the day, the HS is you, and the more you develop spiritually the more you become your Higher Self (i.e. you consciously take on that role, whereas it is unconscious beforehand). The HGA, in my experience, is an entirely different matter. Some argue that it's the HS, some argue it's a greater part of one's self, the Spark or "Yechidah" of one's being (as opposed to the Ruach of the HS), others argue it's an external entity, others again argue it's a temporary entity created to aid in the crossing of the Abyss into the Supernal Realm or the "Garden of Eden". I, as my Lower Self, cannot really say. However, to avoid confusion I think it is better to simply use the term "Higher Self", and thus leave the HGA for another topic altogether.

So yes, you're right in your reference to Jung. The HS is part of one's self, yet can feel and act as if seperate, until one integrates it and becomes it. This is a gradual and ongoing process, and does not mean that at any stage you are entirely your HS, just acting with more authority in that regard.

    LLLSHJ,
    Yechidah.
So the HGA and HS are not necessarily one and the same. Which leads me to believe that I have not been interacting with HGA, but, merely HS.
I first heard of HGA through Abramelin the Mage as a teenager, but, paid no mind to it as it was very convoluted and none of it seemed to have any practical application. Later, I ran across it in AC's writings and didn't understand it's practical application then either. I took my minerval and 1o and have since dropped out about 20yrs ago (after about 2 years involvement)because, quite frankly, i was not impressed with the camp I was involved with.(Well, two individuals were respectable, anyway and are still friends to this day.Anyway,... I just came to the conclusion that HS and HGA were one and the same. If you do not mind my asking, what is the difference and what are the practical applications for HGA?
    When in doubt,...smash something.

Personally, I think the whole being in touch with ones higher self is the most important part of Thelema. I used to just try to ignore myself and try to be what others wanted, but it wasn't making me happy.
Libre Samekh is the so called "easy" path to K&C with the HGA. Not that I would know about the abamelin. My understanding is that trying to do practical magical work while going against the HGA will get you what you asked for, but not really what you wanted. So as a result doing spells without the approval of the HGA will get you results you have asked for, but you won't like them. That is how I can understand it.

^^^ Agree with above. To anyone wanting to try the Abermerlin Operation should know that it is incredibly time consuming, on a scale of months or years, not days and weeks, and even Crowley was unsuccessful at completing it properly. Just know if you choose that path, many of the spirits that will come out to play are nothing nice.
