    Ok, I know this may sound strange to some pepole, but after a rather emotional experiance some years back. I suddenly became aware that I can feel others pepoles emotions. It`s like when they speak their words carry an extrya emotional meaning. I can usually know what even animals are feeling and communicate trough them in that way. I`m not sure if this can be labled a psychic phenomena, but I can acually feel another persons emotional state. I can at times see a sort of vapour or gass emenating from pepole and animals. Like holding a lighther up to your eye, that`s what it looks like. I can even sometimes feel a certain emotion in inanimate objects some times if I hold them to long. Now the problem is I work as a salesman and I keep getting all the negative emotions of my clients over to my self.
    So how do I get rid of this, I never asked for this ability I just want it to go away. I can`t stand it. How do I get rid of it? How do I stop taking on others pepoles emotions?
    For are we not gods, blessed with the devine power of creation?

    I don't know if it is possible to get rid of an ability.
    I have some, that I have never been able to get rid of . Instead I have had to adapt and keep in mind that things effect me, even if I don't want them to. I have had to learn to be firm and aware of myself and never dissmiss it...If I dismiss it, I get totally exhausted, so instead I focus on not being around negative people or anything else that will negatively effect me. I always had it and my mother tried to guide me with teaching, how to protect myself (she saw this in me ,from an early age ), however I was not ready to accept it (my mum has the same).
    When I finally had to just accept it, I was totally burned out trying to pretend it wasn't so and being around people that had the effect they had on me..
    Sadly, I nowdays have to put firm boudaries with friends (I'm also careful who I have around me) if they get for example depressed, I can not be around them, etc...when people are depleated with energy I feel like they suck the life out of me., etc...and interestingly they always feel better after and I totally wiped out.
    However , I have learned to shield myself from people that are not close to me, even if they are negative. This took a lot of practise , but the more I practised the better it got.. Now days I hardley have to do much . It just is there..It still is hard with friends though , as I choose to be connected to them...
    The sales work would be a nightmare for someone like me, I don't know how I could stay in place like that, I personally don't think I could do it...So don't know how you could stay alright , in an environment like that.

    Hope someone here can help you and maybe I could get a hint or two as well to improve too.

    The only thing for me worked when meditation , yoga, etc.. became part on my everyday rutine, putting the focus totally on me or within me, seemed to create a stronger self and helped with personal boundaries (forcing myself in being acutely aware of continually, where 'I' end and someone else begins or vice versa)
    Also, I see this now as a gift almost, as I can tune into people and help..the number of people I've been able to help, through this and when helping people that are not friends, (it isn't draining anymore), it has been amazing .
    I now, would not change it for anything, I just make sure I pull back when it gets too much, and make sure I recover...

    I hope you'll find a balance with it.

    Well, honestly I have thought about quitting my job on several occations, but it`s hard to get work elsewhere, when youre under 30 and don`t have years of experiance to back it up. I have however a degree in graphic design, and I`m currently sifting trough about 80 jobb applications now. I meditate every day, it`s the only way I can keep from loosing my mind. I`ve helped countless pepole with all sort of problems, and sometimes I feel dreaind as you describe. But it`s also rewarding in it`s own way. But it`s gotten to the point that after a bad day at work I get agressive, depressed and at times down right suicidal and have to have a moment for my self and meditate to purge all the negative emotions from my system. Before Im back to my self. I asked my shrink if I might be bipolar, but he said I don`t fit the description. Some times that can take up to a day to purge all theese emotions from my system. I`m scared that if I can`t controll this I may end up hurting somone.


    This may sound completely crazy, but las night while walking home from work I tried a little experiment. I put my hand against a building, and just stood there for a minutter or two. I fould feel several emotions, tierdness, the kind of feeling you get when you`ve won, shame, sexual arousement, the feeling you get when you feel like you are being forced to do somthing. Peering trough the window I realized that I was looking in to a gymnasium.

    The first thing you should do is learn how to read and channel other peoples emotions, not absorb them or allow them to imprint on you. You can do this however you desire, what I would suggest tho is visualisation. Next time you have a customer or you are trying an experiment with an object or some person, visualise like you have a sort of a pipe in your body, some placelike your head or your chest or stomach. Visualise the emotions that they are radiating going/flowing inside that pipe and read them there. After the reading of the emotions is done, visualise their emotions leaving/flowing out throught the other end of the pipe.

    Also, do not get yourself emotionaly attached to other peoples emotions. Clarify in your head that those are defenatly not yours. Keepding meditation, and also you can doing some shielding or setting up a filter of some sorts.

    I feel like you have been trying so hard just to deny and try to remove this thing for so long, whilst that is an interelylong aproach. Like Light said, you should adapt it to yourself and work with it and in a very short time you will notice the changes and it will no longer have this much of a bad effect on you.Whilst the most logical conclusion to removing the negative effects would be to try and deal with the emotions of others instead of them and solving their problems, it is not entirely like that. What needs the work is your ability, not the others :/ (sorry if sounding harsh,my intention is not to criticize you, just point out stuff you can do so you get better). With the shileding or filter and not absorbing the emotions of others the next step you can achieve is also blocking the empathy thing when you so desire, tho blocking it completely and forever is I do not think possibly, it will always emerge at times, maybe when you least expect it and it can also produce negative effects on you, the emotions would store inside of you and cause you to litteraly explode with negativity.

    letme know if any of the advices I gave helped you or if you need some specific help with meditation, visualisation or shielding/filter excersizes. I used to have the same problem as you and these fixed it for me, so am hoping they willhelp you aswell

    Thank you so much for that .I'll try as well, the pipe thing...
    I remembered something more last night ,as I kept thinking back what advise I have been given , one thing was:- never take eye contact if you feel the negativity already before or when they are approaching. That's when it sucks you in. I get almost paralised if it's very negative...This advise was given actually by a psycologist, that works with the latest research on the brain etc...interesting as so many new discoveries are being discovered at the moment, about the brain, that they never though was possible...
    Also, I think Seyk is right , you're where I was , totally exhausted, you're fighting it ...It got so bad for me , I used to have massive fights with my mum about it. Angry about it, that she'd given this to me. Hating it so much.

    My brother and sister did not get it and they where almost jelous about it, not understanding what comes with the package...

    Try and think about this as intuition , it's just more than other people have it .
    Also, one thing that helped me was the discovery of a path that suited me..I'm a Luciferian and do a lot of reading..
    I've started reading Hermetics, a while back as well, it seems to make sense to me, like the concept of vibration, that is in one of the books that I'm reading currently.
    Everything vibrates , nothing rests or is ever still. This is how the ancient Egyptians saw things , so if you go by that concept, well it makes sense...

    I do a lot of blocking, imagening a wall inside of me , that seems to help.
    Also, I find if I'm stressed or have a lot on my plate it gets harder to block , that's when I try and stay away a bit more from crowds.
    It's hard at times , as I'm actually quite an extrovert by nature and love people around me , but it's something I've had to come to terms with .
    If I'm depleated, I need to take it easy and only select a few friends, that I feel ok with, otherwise I burn the candle at the both ends...
    I still would suggest Yoga, as it not only streghtens you physical core , but I found it, also seems to help with me being more focused on myself...

    And don't give up , there are others that are living with it and has found a way, you can also do it...

    Hey, I was born a muslim but orthdox religion never made sense to me. They try to explain away things that don't make sense. So i search for a long time and I ran into heretics. It answered all the grey areas that others tried explaining away. Thumbs up to you for reading it!

    Anyway. Empath is not curse but a powerful gift. I agree with the previous posts, learn to sheild, channel and block out unwanted energies from others. You can really help people close to you and If you didn't know , empath works both ways! You have the ability to project your feeling onto others, just imagine the sales you would make. I'm kidding about the sales, don't use it for personal gain.

    You can also try triggers and anchors. This is a more psychological approach. When you feeling calm and relaxed perform a subtle act like tapping your hand or tapping your leg and then take notice of how relaxed and calm you feel. Do this for about a month or more. And then when you have an empath attack perform the same action and you should after a while feel the relaxed and calm. This is why it's recommended to perform meditation at the same time and place and use the same posture when you start meditating. After awhile you drop into the meditative state much faster just by sitting in the same posture. That's muscle memory for you but it's a pain for exercising.
